Covenant’s blessing

Dr. Paul Dhinakaran
22 May
On 24 July 1980, I gave my life to Jesus and the Lord transformed me fully. When I asked the Lord to fill me with the Holy Spirit, He made my joy complete on 20th November 1980 by filling me with this experience! Yes, I jumped with joy. Then the Lord said, “Paul, until now you had so many friends.  But from today I will be your only friend.” Thirty eight years have been completed! The Lord has been my best friend and because of that I have been blessed with good family and loving people all over the world.  The Bible too says, In my faithfulness I will reward my people and make an everlasting covenant with them” (Isaiah 61:8).
Beloved, it was not because of my righteousness.  But, because of His faithfulness, Lord God entered into a covenant with me.  All I had was the worst to give Him.  But all He had were the best to give me. And still His goodness is flowing towards me.  In the Bible, God made a covenant with Noah where He kept the rainbow as a sign, to say that He would never perish the earth with waters (Genesis 9:1-17).  God entered into a covenant with Abraham where Abraham agreed to go to the land that God would show him as an act of faith and God agreed to make Abraham a great nation (Gen. 12:1-3; 15:7-21)).  To symbolize this, animal sacrifices were made.  God made a covenant with Moses by giving Ten Commandments where people agreed to obey God’s words and God in turn would bless them (Exodus 20:1-17; 24:3).  Another covenant made was between God and King David, in which David and his descendants were established as the royal heirs to the throne of the nation of Israel which continued even till Jesus Christ, who became the King of all kings! (2 Sam. 7:12-13; Acts 2:29-36).  At last, Jesus Himself enters into a covenant with His children saying “This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins” (Matthew 26:28).
Beloved, our God is a covenant-making God!  He keeps the covenant even though we fail.  He is strong and so He will never let you down.  He loves to be with you as a loving Father, a brother and a friend.   Just open your heart and receive Him.  He will transform your life completely.  All of His goodness flows through this covenant.  What should you do? Just receive Him in your heart as your Lord and Saviour. Surrender your spirit, soul and body to Him, casting away all your darkness, shabbiness, dirt and confusion.  He will put on the robe of righteousness, ring of sonship upon you and crown you as a king!  Are you ready to enter into a covenant with your heavenly Father? Recite this prayer now.
Prayer:
Loving heavenly Father, I believe that You are the covenant keeper.  Whenever You entered into a covenant with Your people, You have richly blessed them to mark a vital part in the history.  Today, I come before You with all that I have.  I believe in Your blood that was shed for me and Your body broken for me on the Cross.  I enter into this covenant made by Your blood.  Cleanse me and make me whole.  Let Your blessings flow into my life to glorify Your Name.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
