Merciful God

The Lord said, "I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the Lord, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion" (Exodus 33:19). Lord will be merciful upon whom He would like to be merciful. On whom does God showers His mercy? Is He a partial God? No.  The Bible says that He is not a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34).  The Lord makes His face shine upon you only because of His mercy and nothing else.  The Bible says, “A tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to the Heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ God said ‘I tell you that this man, rather than the other Pharisee, went home justified before God. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted’” (Luke 18:10-14).

Many years ago, my father's boss in the State Bank of India visited England. He was supervising the London office. He found that everybody is full of joy. But one young girl was so sorrowful and this made him a little upset. So he took some time to talk to her and he asked, “Why are you so sad?”  She said “My father died.  I am working to take care of my mother.  But all the time I am making mistakes.  Every day I am being scolded and sent home by my boss.  So the fear is tormenting me.  If I am dismissed I can't live.” This boss was moved with compassion and he said “You are no more going to be a temporary staff.  I am going to make you permanent today so that you can work with confidence.” She was greatly filled with joy.
The mercy shown by a boss to his worker gave so much of joy.  It made the heart glad.  The humble acceptance of her inability opened way for grace to enter her life through her boss.  Would you come to Jesus, your Saviour with a humble heart, exposing all your weakness and lack to Him? He would be glad to show His mercy to you and fill you with His amazing strength.  He will not reject you.  Come to Jesus!
Dear Lord, I come before You trusting that You will never leave me nor forsake me.  I believe that You are not a respecter of persons.  I surrender all of my weakness, doubts, fears and lacks at Your feet. I plead for Your mercy.  Forgive my sins.  Cleanse me and sanctify me.  Fill me with Your mighty strength to overcome anything that is of the world.  I receive this amazing strength of Yours by faith.  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
