Love each other deeply
“Love” is the most valued word in the human history! Without love, humanity would have not existed. God is love and He wants each one of us to love one another just as He loves us. He demonstrated His love by sacrificing His begotten Son for the sins of humanity. “Love will cover a multitude of sins.” (I Peter 4:8). It is this love of Jesus, which has brought reconciliation with the Almighty God. However, the wicked one plants hatred and strife among the people stirring up war and destruction. It is our duty to step forward and manifest the love of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Love does not expose someone’s sins to other people, but instead overlooks them. We read in 1 Corinthians 13: 5 that “It (Love) does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”
Approximately 64 years after Jesus’ death on the cross, the evil emperor Nero burned the city of Rome to the ground. No one exactly knows why, but with everything burnt and destroyed, including all aspects of culture and religion, not to mention lives, many Romans were homeless. They quickly realized that their “gods” could not save them. Sensing an uprising, Nero convinced the Roman people that the Christians were to blame for the destruction. Already the Christians were hated and unrecognized because of their relationship with the Jews. The Jews historically hated the Romans, and so, by association, the Romans hated the Christians. Nero’s lies quickly spread everywhere across the empire, deepening the Romans’ hostility toward Christians and sending them into hiding. It was during this time that Peter wrote his first epistle. His goal was to strengthen the Christians, offer them hope, teach them how to live victoriously despite the situation and encourage them to forgive. However, that could only occur with patience, forgiveness, and fervent love.
Now, it is our time to share the love of Christ with one another and lead them towards receiving eternal life. This is the true Christian love, which the disciples of Jesus Christ wanted to manifest to everyone. Our only hope to draw people to Christ is by being rooted firmly and established in love. Apostle Paul says, “Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another, not lagging in diligence; fervent in spirit, serving the Lord” (Romans 12:9-11). So let us love one another just the way Christ loves us, serve Him, and bring glory to His name. God Himself will surely honour us for the love we show. Have a blessed day!
Our precious heavenly Father, full of love, mercy and grace, we thank You and adore You for Your unconditional love. Lord, You loved us when we were yet sinners. Help us to manifest Your love that others may come to know You are the only true God who is author of love. It is through Your love we are forgiven. Help us to be ever grateful for it. We commit ourselves into Your mighty hands and pray, Amen!
