Lord our Deliverer
When people are trained to climb mountains, the trainer would initially advice the beginners not to look down. Why would he ask them not to look down? When they look down, they are shaken with fear on what’s beneath them, “So much height! What if I fall! Oh, my bones would be broken. That’s it. I’m finished!” As Peter was walking on waters Jesus would have said the same thing to him, “Peter, whatever you do, just don’t look down. Look at me.” But Peter looked down and he started drowning. He sank into the water and Jesus had to lift him up. Peter thought that he had the strength to do it. We too, when such troubles come, we just have emotional faith in our hearts and our life is not built on Jesus completely, because there are no roots deep enough. We have not learnt to rely on Jesus. We rely on our own strength, “What can I do? How can I handle this problem? How can I make finances come? How can I study and get first rank? How can I study and just pass?” The word of God says, “In the Lord alone are deliverance and strength” (Isaiah 45:24). He listens to our voice and He says, “I’m coming with you. I have not left you. I have not forsaken you. I’m coming” and He starts to deepen our faith in Him.
Firstly, God delivers us from sin. Our Lord Jesus Christ came into this world and died on the cross for us, to deliver us from all our sins. Bible says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord"(Rom.6:23) and "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"(Rom.3:23). Because of our sin, we are deprived of the glory of God and ultimately God Himself. But when we accept Jesus, we will go to heaven and get eternal life. Today, let’s call upon Jesus because He is the one who delivers us from sin. Take a decision today that you will accept only Jesus into our life. When He comes into our hearts, He will remove all the sins, sanctify us and makes us Holy. So give your life to Jesus, inherit great peace and joy in your heart.
Gracious Lord, I have understood that in You alone I can find my deliverance and strength. You have washed my sins away and delivered me from evil. Lord, I will never rely on my own strength but I will wait upon You to renew my strength each and every day. Show me Your ways Lord, that I may walk by it and live a life pleasing to Your sight. I commit my body, mind and soul into Your mighty hands. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
