Down to earth

The word of God illuminates our true unworthy state before God. David considered himself dust before God. Therefore, he was able to touch the heart of God because of his humility and gain His compassion.  The Word of God says For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (Matthew 23:12). God hates the pride of man. Without the help and favour of God we certainly know that we cannot exist. Only when we humble ourselves and tell God that only through His strength we can accomplish, He will be pleased with us. Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5: 6-7)
Once a lady approached Sadhu Sundar Singh and said, “Sir! My child is sinking. Please place your hands upon the child and pray for healing.” “Should I touch your child with my cursed hands?” replied Sadhu Sundar Singh. He continued, “These hands once tore the pages of the Holy Bible and threw it into fire. So, I am unworthy to do so. Please ask somebody else to pray for your child.” We acquire this humility only when we read the Bible. The mother of the child still insisted that Sadhu Sundar Singh to pray for the child and eventually he accepted her request. When he placed his hands on the child and completed the prayer with faith, the child was instantaneously healed.
Yes, this is what the Lord can do when a person is humble before Him. Even when our Lord blesses you with riches and fame, remain humble. The higher you go – the more humble you must be. One of the signs of humility is that we cast our anxieties upon Him. Humble yourself before God and pour out your anxieties before him. Confess unto Him that you are mere dust and profess His glorious name.  Christ humbled Himself on the cross and gave up His life for our Salvation. “He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death,...Therefore God also has highly exalted Him” (Philippians 2:8, 9).
Dear friend, when you too humbly surrender yourself to the Lord, He will graciously fill you with His Spirit and lift you up to greater heights.
“Loving Lord, thank You for speaking to me through this word. No matter who I am, or where I work or how wealthy I am, Lord, give me a humble heart. Let me be humble to everyone and serve all as You served Your disciples. This I ask in Jesus name. Amen.”
