Every mother is special to every one in the family. God called Eve as "the mother of all living" (Genesis 3:20). In the same way God said about Abraham's wife. He was chosen by the Lord and was asked to follow him. And about his wife Sarah, God said, "she shall be a mother of nations." Genesis 17:16.

Yes, mother is very special to every one. The reason, the love of a mother is special. It is unique. That's why a special day is chosen to honour and celebrate and honour mothers.

We are living in a treacherous, deceitful and disloyal world where even the pure love of a mother is found to be changing. But the unchanging Lord (Hebrews 13:8) showers his love, grace and blessings ever upon this human race (Isaiah 49:15). Not only she shows an unchanging love, but she also comforts, encourages her children whenever it faces dejection or failure in the world.

There was a family which was blessed with one girl child. She was the only child for them but she was little dark, not so beautiful, and was average in studies too. Everyone around her teased and hurt her with their words, but her mother showered her love and comforted her and told her not to worry about the outward appearance but to seek God who loves everyone because irrespective of their outlook. She also guided her to seek the Lord so that the Lord can give her the comfort and usher her with His divine love and wisdom. (Psalm 32:8)

"My son, hear the instruction of your father, And do not forsake the law of your mother". Proverbs 1:8

"My son, keep your father's command, And do not forsake the law of your mother." Proverbs 6:20

When the daughter fervently sought the Lord according the above verses which her mother taught her, He filled her with His wisdom and knowledge.

Should we not praise the love of such a mother? Nothing could be compared with Mother's love, care, comfort and encouragement. In order to honor these indelible qualities in her we celebrate Mother's day.

It is the brought up of the child which puts him or her in a good position in the society. Especially the way a mother brings up the child in spiritual life and discipline, humbleness and obedience will take them to heights in their life.

I know a mother who wished her only son to excel in everything especially to know about the Lord and serve Him. She brought him up with that attitude from childhood, but when he became a young boy he deviated from the spiritual life because of the bad company of friends. His mother who loved the Lord and had faith in Him, prayed for him without ceasing. Our Lord who is loving and compassionate (Ps 86:15; 111:4; 103:8; 145:8) in nature heard the tear filled prayers of that mother and decided to wipe away her tears (Isaiah 25:8)

The Lord spoke to the son and changed his attitude and transformed his heart (Ezek 36:20). He confessed his mother and told that it is the Lord who is alive in him and he will live for Lord alone till he is alive in this earth. There after he lived like Apostle Paul. Countless youngsters were saved through him and many mothers were happy about their children because of the salvation that they received through this son's spirit filled life and testimony. All these were possible because of the unceasing and fervent prayers of that one mother for the salvation of her son.

Yes, my dear children of God, the mother's love is priceless and her spirit filled advices are incomparable. Her patience and sacrifice, which no one in this world would spare but only a Mother, will do so. Our Loving Jesus Christ when he was going through the agony of pain in the cross, even at that last moments he entrusted her mother Mary to His beloved disciple John (John 19:26,27). We the followers of His foot steps shouldn't we take that extra care to respect our mothers in this Mother's Day? and that will please the Lord too.
