GREAT GIFTS FROM GOD

Gist:  Always wait at the feet of God to receive great gifts from Him.

When the Lord brought the Israelites to the land of Canaan they praised and worshipped God with the trumpet, harp and lyre. “The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy” (Psalm 126:3). Even king David praised God in the following manner for all the miracles and wonders He did in his life. “I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders” (Psalm 9:1).

David was a godly king who kept praising God during thick and thin times (Psalm 55:17, 22). Although he was a king, he never failed to praise God. The Lord is also doing wonders in our day-to-day life. Our life itself is a miracle. The Bible says, “For in Him we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28). Jesus Christ says, “Apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). Everything was created through Him.

The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it” (Psalm 24:1). Everything in this world was created for Him. So let us praise God with a grateful heart for all the blessings He has showered upon us. “..you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body” (1 Corinthians 6:20). As mentioned in the Scripture verse above, when we praise God from the bottom of our heart, He fills us with His divine joy. “You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand” (Psalm 16:11).

Paul the apostle says “whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God”(1 Corinthians 10:31). Death was staring at David when he pretended madness before Abimelech for his life. Abimelech drove him away and David departed from his presence. David praised God for saving his life. He could not contain the joy that was bubbling forth when the enemy king ordered him to be cast away from his sight (Psalm 34:1). Just like king David let us learn to praise and pray always by continuously placing our cares and concerns at the feet of the Lord.

Jesus Christ questioned, "And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for the rest?” (Luke 12:25, 26). In other words He asks His followers not to be anxious for anything but to wait at the feet of God always to receive great gifts from Him.

Prayer:

Loving Lord Jesus,

Please help me to wait on You always and be of good courage. I trust that You alone will strengthen my heart. Give me the grace to wait on You just as how Mary chose the good portion. To be exalted by You in due time, help me to humble myself before You always. Strengthen me to cast all my cares upon YOU knowing that You care for me. Bestow upon me the great gifts which You desire to grant me on this day and make me happy.

In Your precious name I pray.

Amen.
