IN HIS HOLY HILL

Gist:  Be careful in leading a holy and righteous life.

The Bible questions, “LORD, who may abide in Your tabernacle? Who may dwell in Your holy hill?” (Psalm 15:1). Quite often, many of us might doubt whether it would be possible for us to abide in God’s tabernacle and dwell in His holy hill, according to His word? However, we should know that the Lord is eagerly waiting to bless us with this divine experience.

When we lead a righteous life, talk only the truth and fear Him with all our heart, the Lord will bless us with that divine experience. Therefore, let us decide to pray daily, “Dear Lord! Change me to be like You. I surrender my life to You so that I might lead a life that is pleasing in Your sight.” Just as how Jacob struggled with God for this experience you too struggle with Him, abide in Him and receive His matchless blessings in your life (Genesis 32:26-29).

There lived a godly and devout man along with his family. He was faithful and sincere in seeking the Lord together with his household. He was regular in offering his daily prayers, reading the Bible and meditating upon it. He feared and revered the Lord with all his heart. So, he was blessed bountifully in his life.

On account of his prosperity, some of his close relatives and friends who did not know the Lord spoke ill of him. Out of jealousy and hatred, they sarcastically remarked, “Here comes the most holy man in the world. Look at his face and you can see holiness drip from it!” However, this man of God turned a deaf ear to all their silly comments. He carried on with his routine work as is usual with much fervour seeking the Lord all the more. He held fast to God depending on Him with all his heart, soul, strength and mind.

Therefore, God blessed him and his household much beyond their comprehension. God exalted his son and made him abundantly prosper both in the spiritual as well as secular realm. Now, those who passed rude remarks earlier realized their folly. They told, “How sad! We have lived an ignorant life forgetting to trust God. Let us turn our attention back to God and be blessed by Him.” Genuinely they repented, turned to God and started following Him.

Dear Friend! Never be indifferent to God. Remember to remember HIM always in all that you do unmindful of what others say about you. Be careful in leading a holy and righteous life. Try by all means to keep yourself away from the stains of this world. He will surely bless you and make you prosperous. Others will respect and honour you. None who sought the Lord diligently were put to shame. On the contrary, the faces of all those who looked up to God for everything and anything shone (Psalm 34:5). Your tabernacle will become a holy hill (Joshua 1:8).
Prayer

Our Father in heaven,

Help me to walk uprightly, do the works of righteousness and speak the truth in my heart. Enable me not to backbite with my tongue or do evil to my neighbor and to the best possible pursue peace in all pursuits with my family, friends, relatives and all those I meet. Please help me to honor those who fear You. On this day give me the grace to abide in Your tabernacle and the blessed privilege of dwelling in Your holy hill.

In the precious name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ I pray.

Amen.
