HUMBLE HEARTS

Gist:  Thank You for strengthening our heart, for increasing our faith and answering our prayer.

All of us lose heart easily when afflicted in our lives. We struggle to cope up with the stress and strain of our afflictions and humiliations. The Psalmist says, “LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear, (Psalm 10:17). Though David was a great king, yet he held fast to God when he was afflicted and says, “The Lord will look on my affliction and repay me with good for his cursing this day” (2 Samuel 16:12).

Affliction will certainly enter everyone’s life. However, we the children of God need not worry. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will come to us and ask, “My dear child! What do you want? What do you desire from me?” He will strengthen our heart and fulfill our desires. Therefore, let us not go on harping on our afflictions but, look up to the God who will deliver us from our afflictions and bless us abundantly.

The head of a certain family lived a happy life. However, some jealous people joined together and did witchcraft against him and this affected his leg making him bedridden. Imagine the condition of a family when their breadwinner is bedridden. All the members were in great despair. At that time some pastors came and offered prayers for his healing. They also taught the family members how to seek the Lord faithfully and how to cling on to Him in the midst of afflictions. Accordingly, the family members joined together and started praising God putting an end to their grumblings. They prayed, “Dear Father in heaven, thank You for leading us how to hold fast to You at all times. Please deliver us from this affliction and heal our father. Thank You for strengthening our heart, for increasing our faith and answering our prayer.” They prayed day and night everyday!

The Lord heard their prayers, healed him and made him walk. The Lord manifested Himself to them that He is always living and a loving God. The jealous people who worked against them fled with shame writ large on their faces. Dear Friend! Our Almighty God lives forever (Deuteronomy 32:40). Please experience and understand that our Lord has all the power to deliver us from all afflictions and humiliations.

Prayer:

Loving Lord!

You are my Rock and Refuge at all times especially in my afflictions. From today onwards, I will abide in You and rejoice in Your presence. Thank You for holding my hand and leading me. In the blessed name of our Lord Jesus I pray.

Amen.
