In this worldly life, every one faces unexpected troubles and dangers every day. We as a family were happy but a car accident that we met with, shattered us. The tsunami waves that arose suddenly broke the lives of thousands of families. The abrupt fall in business affects a large number of families. It is normal for man to feel tired and heart broken at these times of calamities and give up all hope in life.
But, the believers in God have hope in their lives (Hebrews 13:6) says, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear’. We have a God who helps and rescue us at all times, in all places and under all circumstances. He is omnipotent to deliver us from all the evil powers in this world. He will surely strengthen us and comfort us! This is how God blessed me and made me stronger than before to work mightily for the glory of His name.
Once there lived a drunkard who respected none but delighted in picking up fights with his neighbours. He abused all and earned the wrath of all. His neighbours gathered and discussed, “How are we to deal with this evil character living in our street?” Many wanted to somehow get rid of him from that street.
In that same street, there was a man who trusted God and through prayer and Bible reading lived close to God. So, this man of God fasted and prayed fervently for the change of heart in this evil person. One day, the daughter of this evil person died suddenly. Because he loved her dearly, he lamented with vehement cries. Moved by compassion, this man of God went to his house, sat next to him and comforted him. He told him about the love of God and His great sacrifice on the cross for the salvation of mankind. He also prayed for him and his family. This moved the heart of the evil man very much and he started seeking the Lord. His life changed upside down. The people who lived in the street were surprised by the sudden change of heart in this man. Slowly, they too came to the man of God for God to change their lives as well.
Dearly beloved! See the great privilege and honour given to those who seek God. God loves and saves you when you trust him faithfully. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Those who trust in the Lord cannot be moved. The Lord shall make them a blessing to others also (Psalm 125:1, 2).
Prayer:
Loving Lord!
Please give me this fervent faith in my life also. From today onwards, give me the grace to place my trust in You and feel strengthened by Your power. I confess that You alone can grant me the salvation that I need. Cleanse my sins with the blameless blood that You shed on the cross at Calvary and make me Your child. Help me to be a witness for You.
