THE POWER OF RESURRECTIONDate: 21-07-2010
Speaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran Gist: The Lord sends His power of resurrection into us.
Paul the apostle humbles himself like a child and pleads with God to know the power of His resurrection (Philippians 3:10-11). Jesus also humbled Himself like a little child, surrendered Himself to His Father and pleaded, “Father, if You are willing, take this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.” An angel from heaven appeared to Him and strengthened Him. And being in anguish, He prayed more earnestly, and His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground (Luke 22:42-44).
He was exceedingly sorrowful. He pleaded with His disciples who were sleeping, “Could you not keep watch with Me for one hour?” (Matthew 26:40). The moment He humbled Himself like a little child, the power of resurrection filled Him. Immediately He got up and told His disciples, “But a time is coming, and has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home. You will leave me all alone. Yet I am not alone, for My Father is with Me.” (John 16:32).
Then Judas who betrayed Him came. Till then Jesus was very much perturbed. But the moment Judas came, He asked him, “Friend, why have you come?” and faced him boldly. He went to the cross boldly. There He told one of the thieves who was hanging on the cross with authority, “Today you will be with Me in paradise” (Luke 23:43). Then looking at His Father He gave up His life saying, “Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit.” The power of resurrection filled Him immediately. He tasted death for the sake of everyone of us (Hebrews 2:9). He rose up on the third day triumphing over death.
Dear Friend! It is our faith which shall overcome the world (1 John 5:4). When our inward eyes are opened, the power of resurrection descends. No evil person can ever overcome us. No Judas or Pilate or the Roman Empire can come against us because we have the resurrection power to overcome them. Through that power of resurrection we shall establish the kingdom of God on this earth. Then satan shall fall like lightning. This power of resurrection descends not only in our spirit but also in our body. It is God’s desire that our body should be the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19).
The Lord sends this power of resurrection into this body. On this day, the world stands in need of followers of Christ who will manifest the power of resurrection. Shall we plead with God to grant us this power of resurrection that we may be anointed vessels in extending His kingdom on earth?
Prayer:
Almighty God,
The harvest is plenty but the labourers are few. I pray that You grant me the power of resurrection that I may be an anointed vessel in Your hand always extending Your kingdom of peace, joy and happiness on this earth. In Your immense grace and mercy please grant me the anointing of the Holy Spirit, together with the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit that I may be a source of blessing to all those who knock at my door seeking help from me.
In the matchless name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ I offer this prayer.
