REFUGE OF HIS ANOINTEDDate: 24-02-2010 Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran Gist: He waited patiently in prayer along with others for this experience.
God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power (Acts 10:38). Also, He filled Him immeasurably with His power (John 13:34). That is why He could go around healing all the sick people and delivering all those who were possessed by the evil spirits.
Dear Friend! This blessed life of the Son of God is absolutely necessary for us also. When His disciples lacked this knowledge, He told them repeatedly to wait for this experience. Finally, they received this anointing on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit descended on them (Acts 1:14). Immediately, their ignorance, foolishness and doubts disappeared and a divine peace filled their hearts.
Smith Wigglesworth, a devout man of God who shepherded a church did not know how to preach. He would do all the work but only his wife would preach in the service. He had a deep desire to be somehow fully anointed by the Holy Spirit.
At that time, he heard that a certain group of people in the nearby place were praying for the anointing of the Holy Spirit and were also getting filled. He immediately rushed to that place! There, he waited patiently in prayer along with others for this divine experience.
Finally, he received this gift of the Holy Spirit through the prayer of a certain woman of God. He returned home overwhelmed with joy. The following Sunday, at the request of his wife, he stood on the pulpit. All were anxiously waiting to witness as to how he would deliver his first sermon. The power of God descended on him mightily. The congregation was moved by the Spirit. Convicted of their sins, some began to cry loudly. Some rolled on the floor. Others began to praise God. This revival did not stop on that day. It continued to burn like a fire.
This anointing will be poured out even today, on those who faithfully seek His power (Joel 2:28). Seek the Holy Spirit with a deep thirst, an indomitable trust and fervent prayers (Isaiah 44:3). Then you will receive this divine experience and also be filled with the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit to shine brightly, having God as your Refuge.
Prayer:
Loving Lord!
Bless me with the anointing of the Holy Spirit and fill me with the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit to arise and shine for others. From today onwards, use me as Your vessel to live for You and to love You. Hold my hand and lead me.
In Your precious name I pray,
Amen. |
