WALKING VICTORIOUSLYDate: 18-02-2010 Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran Gist: Leading a true Christian life is definitely difficult.
Every individual born in this world live with their own characteristic attitudes that is different one from the other. Even in spiritual life they differ from one another. Nevertheless, whatever be the state of affairs of every one, difficulties faced in passing a single day cannot be expressed. Those who wallow in poverty lament, “When shall my plight change?’ Some others who are caught up in problems relating to family say in tears, “Is there a way for our lives to blossom?” When we think about such sufferings, the question that arises in our mind is that, “Why did I come into this world?” But Paul the Apostle who was chosen by God and who triumphed over all afflictions in this world said the following during the last days of his life:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” (2 Timothy 4: 7, 8).
He also writes to Timothy who was just like His son and who ministered with Him the following so that we too can triumph over all our problems in this world.
But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. (1 Timothy 6:11, 12).
Leading a true Christian life is definitely difficult. Probably those who lead a worldly life with the aim of, “Let us eat, drink and die,” seem to have an easy life. But those who would like to live as true servant of Christ shall certainly go through trials and temptations.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12
Paul the Apostle has clearly explained that through righteousness, godliness, faith and zeal we can overcome all our struggles and lead a victorious life so that we can wear the crown of righteousness and live in the presence of God for ever and ever in heaven.
Prayer:
Our loving heavenly Father,
Not trusting in my righteousness, but in Your grace I offer my supplication into Your hands. I am more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ who laid down His life on the Cross of Calvary for my sake. On this day help me examine if I am walking in the narrow path which leads to victory. Enable me to put on the armour of Christ and get equipped for this day’s battle. Abide with me and bless me.
Amen. |
