Gist:  God will surely give us this great privilege to shine for Him.

A certain wife took advantage of her husband’s calm nature and good qualities by way of developing an illegal relationship with one of her colleague who was of a crafty character. She knew it was wrong, yet betrayed her good husband. On the contrary, her husband continued to fast and pray for her with fervent hope that one day God would change her heart and make His light shine upon her. After some time, the man whom this woman befriended got transferred. He left to a far off place with his wife and never bothered to see the other woman thereafter. “In Your light we see light” (Psalm 36:9)

“The God, the light of Israel, is a burning fire and a blazing flame! You cover Yourself with light” (Psalm 102:2). Our Lord is the true light that gives light to everyman coming into the world (John 1:9). When we are filled by this heavenly light, the darkness in our life is dispelled and we start shining like the light. It also helps us to bring others into this light. But, how many people have this experience of bringing others to God today like the man who prayed for his wife? John the Baptist was sent by God. He was the burning and shining lamp, says the Bible (John 5:35). God will surely give us this great privilege to shine for Him.

After this incident, that woman realized the true love of her husband and returned to him with genuine repentance. Besides accepting her whole-heartedly, he also affectionately told her about the compassion of Christ and made her follow His footsteps. God had compassion on that same woman who boldly sinned against Him and filled her with the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit. God used her as a light to dispel the darkness in the lives of those who lived in sin like her. How great is the amazing grace, love and power of our God! He makes us shine like great light and also help others to shine as bright lights. He alone can change our sinful life and make His light shine in this world that is plunged in darkness. He is merciful to abundantly pardon our sins (Isaiah 55:7). He is rich in mercy! So, leave your sinful life and receive His light so that you can shine brightly in this world.

Prayer:

Loving Lord!

Give me Your divine grace to shine like a bright light in this sinful world. Help me to dispel the darkness in the lives of others. From today onwards, You be my light and let Your light shine through me into the lives of others.

In the precious name of our Lord Jesus I pray.

Amen.
