Gist:  God honors an upright and holy person.

Caleb was a righteous man who followed the Lord faithfully. Therefore, God promised to give him and his descendants the land on which he walked (Deuteronomy 1:36). Likewise, king Hezekiah also followed God faithfully. So, when he fell critically sick, God healed him miraculously and added another fifteen years to his life (Isaiah 38:5).

Similarly, king Jehoshaphat remained loyal in his love for the lord uttering, “The Lord will be with the good” (2 Chronicles 19:11). In the case of Job, he lived an upright man, blameless, with godly fear and as one who shunned evil (Job 1:1, 8). Job passed through many trials and tempests, but ultimately God rescued and blessed him in a wonderful way (Job 42:10, 12). God delights in a faithful person. Pause, ponder and examine your standing with God!

Once, a certain man from abroad loved the people living in a remote village of another country and served them with all his strength. He went to the extent of learning the language of those villagers and moved as a family member with them. If someone fell sick, he would immediately visit that house, kneel down and pray for that person. God heard his prayers offered with all earnestness and healed people, however serious their disease may be.

Further, when relatives of pregnant women called him for prayer support, he would kneel down at their headside, place is hand on their heads, look up to God and pray fervently. However complicated their case may be, God would hear his prayers and grant them a safe and normal delivery at the earliest. On account of his upright life, the entire village loved, respected, honoured and feared him greatly. Dear Friend, the following verse from the Bible is proved beyond doubt. “The effective and fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16).

Dear Friend, this is how God honors an upright and holy man. Although he was far away from his native land, God not only blessed him but also kept him as a source of blessing for others as well. He indeed remained as an instrument in God’s hands through whom His healing power flowed freely. It is time that as followers of Jesus Christ let us also lead an upright and blameless life before God in this world that is full of wicked people and work for him faithfully and fervently to dispel darkness away like little lamps (Deuteronomy 18:13). "He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still." (Revelation 22:11)

Prayer:

Loving Lord,

You have wonderfully honoured and glorified a servant of Yours bestowing upon him the gifts and fruit of the Holy Spirit. Today, fill me with Your divine power and help me also to be a source of blessing to others. Help me to lead a righteous life and to glorify You name through my precious life.

In the holy name of our Lord Jesus I pray.

Amen.
