My dear one, the Lord said, “I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!” (Luke 13:34). We know how a mother hen protects her chicks. When an eagle flies over or even if its shadow is seen by the mother it immediately calls for its chicks and protects them under her wings. Once I read an article that a viper saw the mother and the chicks and wanted to feed on the little ones. But the mother immediately covered them under her wings, and was safely protecting them. The angry viper who was hungry, bit the mother and mother cried in pain, hearing the sound of the hen the whole household came out running and saw the dead mother hen and the chicks safe under her wings.
Even our heavenly Father protects us in the same manner. The devil comes as a roaring lion to trouble us, but the Lord protects us from all snares (1 Peter 5:8). Through His wounds, we are saved from all iniquities. “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds, we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5; Matthew 8:17). After my heart surgery, I was unable to stand in a place even for a minute. I would immediately fall down to the ground. This continued for six months and I was heartbroken. But one day the Holy Spirit filled me and encouraged me to walk, but I said no. The Lord said that he would hold me even then I was not willing to do so because I was afraid of falling down. After much deliberation, I obeyed and I slowly started walking.
Yes, my dear child when you give your broken heart to the Lord and trust him, he will protect you and care for you like the mother hen who protects her chicks.
I thank You for all the bruises and wounds You had taken up for my sake. Even when the devil roars like a lion to devour me You hands protect me like a hen that protects her chicks. Thank You, Father. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit that I may walk in faith and trust that You would carry me through. This I ask in Jesus name,
