Beloved! In our day-to-day life, we ask God for our daily needs. Ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be full, said our Lord Jesus (John 16:24). However, how many of us really thank God with a grateful heart for all the good things that we have received from Him? The Bible says, “Whoever offers praise glorifies Me” (Psalm 50:23).
Therefore, let us always praise and thank Him whenever we receive something from Him. In everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let our requests be made known to God. Then, the peace of God that surpasses all human understanding, will guard our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus and bless us abundantly (Philippians 4:6,7).
A poor man’s life was so miserable due to poverty that he could not make both ends meet, yet he sincerely sought the Lord with all his strength. God had compassion on him, liberated him out of the miry pit called poverty and raised the standard of his life. When God blessed him with greater and better things, he failed to thank and praise Him. Instead, he tried to please his family members and friends by involving in things that were hateful and disgusting in the sight of the Lord.
The Lord was grieved by this. He kept quiet as if He had forsaken him. This resulted in the man slowly losing his position and prosperity. His condition became worse. At that time he realized his folly. He wept, saying, “Alas! How much God had blessed me and made me prosper. But, I failed to glorify Him because of my ignorance and foolishness. I wasted everything in trying to please my family members and friends! Oh! I have lost everything today!”
Dear Friend! As we have come to the last day of this year, remember to thank God for His love and providence over your life throughout this year. Ask for His forgiveness and repent from your sins. See how important it is to glorify God! He is the Almighty God and we are mere mortals. When we are indifferent to His blessings, then we are the losers. Therefore, when He gives you the blessings, whether great or small, remember to thank and praise Him with all your heart. In Psalm 9:1, David the psalmist says, “ I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds” Let us also continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise (Hebrews 13:15). Then, He will bless us more and more in a miraculous way.
You have been abiding in me and leading me in a wonderful way. Give me a heart that is grateful to You always for all the goodness that You have bestowed upon me. May my cup always overflow with Your blessings and mercy. Please teach me to praise and thank You at all times of my life. From today onward, bless me in a special way. In the miracle-working name of our Lord Jesus, I pray.
