Dearly beloved, The angel declared the plan and purpose for God to be born in earth. In those days when God became a man, the Israelites were slaves under the Roman rule. Israelites were struggling and writhing in pain. During such a gloomy time, only one prophetical utterance sustained them.
That prophetical utterance was, "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace" (Isaiah 9:6). People were eagerly waiting for the birth of this wonder child. He is not only a Saviour to the Israelites but also a Saviour of the entire world.
After our marriage, my wife and I walked through the valley of tears. We happily spent a couple of months after our wedding. Then my wife conceived but she had a miscarriage; next, she gave birth to a still born child. It was a male child. Many wondered why this happend to us. We were terribly troubled. We and all our relatives shed tears. Sorrow surrounded us. The days passed by.
Again my wife conceived. My wife was in her house for cofinement from the seventh month of her pregnancy. My family was eagerly waiting, "When will the child be born?" I took Fifteen days of leave in advance and went to her place. But there was no sign of the birth of the child. With a grumbling heart, I returned to my office. My Manager and staff members asked, "has the child been born?" I replied, "No Sir! Not yet!" On that day at around 2pm. I received a telephone call saying, "a boy baby is born." My joy knows no bounds. My parents, in laws and colleagues were immersed in great joy on that day.
My dear Friend, if such is the joy derived from the birth of a child in this earthly life, how much more on a Christmas day when the Almighty God took the form of a man and was born as a child to be our Saviour. Truly it is indescribable joy. "Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people" (Luke 2:10). This was the good news to the shepherds at the birth of Jesus. What great good news is the birth here on earth of the Lord Jesus Christ! Is it enough to experience this joy just at Christmas season? No! The Lord will grant you His grace to have this joy everyday in your life. It is for that reason He sent His only Son to this world. So do not be disheartened by the woes of this world. Hold fast to the Lord!
You Who did not spare Your only Son but gave Him as a greatest gift to the entire world would surely bless us during this Christmas Season. To those who believe in Him, you grant the authority to be called Your child. With this power I ask You to grant me the anointing and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Bless this day. May it be source of joy not only to me but also to all those who interact with me today.
In Jesus' mighty and matchless name I pray.
