The Bible says, “...God…gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.” (Romans 4:17). When Abraham was childless, he believed that God would bless him with a child and that his descendants would be like the sand on the earth. He believed in things that did not exist as though they existed and received the blessing. Hence he was called as a righteous person.
The Lord is alive in our midst to grant us His blessings. Till we live in this world, we will have tribulations. This is what Lord Jesus has said in John 16:33: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
Lord Jesus has gained victory on the Cross. He will certainly give us victory. Let us think of His victorious death on the cross for our sake- for our sorrows and trials- and believe that He will give us victory. In this world, we go through the valley of tears due to the burdens of life. Nonetheless, when we cling onto the Lord, He will certainly grant us victory. Our troubles and trials are only momentary. This is what we read in 2 Corinthians 4:17: “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” These problems are only for a little while.
When we gain victory through Lord Jesus, it will bring more riches and honour to us. This is how God blessed King Solomon. When God told him, "Ask for whatever you want me to give you," he asked for wisdom. The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. Therefore, He gave him riches and honour which he has not asked for.
When the Queen of Sheba came to see King Solomon, she said, "The report I heard in my own country about your achievements and your wisdom is true. But I did not believe these things until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half was told me; in wisdom and wealth you have far exceeded the report I heard (1 Kings 10: 6,7).”
The Lord had blessed Solomon in abundant measure. “All King Solomon's goblets were gold, and all the household articles in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon were pure gold. Nothing was made of silver, because silver was considered of little value in Solomon's days. The king had a fleet of trading ships at sea along with the ships of Hiram. Once every three years it returned, carrying gold, silver and ivory, and apes and baboons. King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth. (1 Kings 10:21-23).”
Dearly beloved, the Lord expects us to be faithful to Him. The Bible has promised, “The LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless” (Psalms 84:11). When we faithfully meditate upon the Word of God and walk in His ways everyday, He will give us blessings more than we desire or imagine.
Loving Lord Jesus,
I believe that You will bless me according to your promise. I will remain faithful to You. I will meditate on your Word and walk in your ways. You overcame the world through your death on the Cross. You have already gained victory on the Cross. I claim my victory in your mighty name. Rescue me from my troubles and give me a victorious life. Bestow your favour and honour on me. Bless me in abundant measure.
In Your matchless name I pray.
