HEALING WORD
- Sis. Stella Dhinakaran
The Lord is watching over the lives of each and every one of us. “He also taught me, and said to me: ‘Let your heart retain my words; keep my commands and live’ ” (Proverbs 4:4). Have we shut the door of our heart to Him by leading a sinful life chasing behind the things of this world? Or, are we ready to open the door of our heart to Him who is waiting and knocking at the door for Him to come in and dine with us? (Revelation 3:20). When we invite Him into our life, the first thing we should do is to honour His Words, understand the truth in them and walk accordingly. Thus, when we walk with Him and talk with Him, He would hold our hands and say to us, “This is the way, walk in it” (Isaiah 30:21).
Once, there lived an affluent, wealthy and well-placed man in society who always boasted about his wealth, name, fame and power puffed with pride. He took pleasure in stating, “I can do anything I want at any place and at any time.” His heart leapt like the waves in the sea constantly talking at length about his lifestyle and luxury. He failed to focus his attention on the incomparable love of God who richly gave him such gifts to enjoy. While he gloated like an inflated balloon blown with the air of pride and arrogance, suddenly a shock struck him like a bolt from the blue. His kidneys failed to function. Physicians and specialists did their best but in vain. Finally, his friends and some servants of God came and explained the unconditional love of Jesus Christ to him. His conscience could clearly pinpoint his folly. He repented and turned a new leaf. From then on, he started to read the Bible carefully and confessed all his sins to God. He made a commitment to live for Christ. God looked at his humility and gave him a new lease of life and restored good health to him.
Dear Friend, be watchful in fearing the Lord, in reading and meditating on His Word and in seeking Him diligently (Psalm 1:3). Then the sweet Words of the Lord, sweeter than the honey, would heal you, give you a prosperous and blessed life (Psalm 19:10, 119:103).
Prayer:
Almighty God!
Give me the grace to read, meditate and honour Your sweet and precioujs Words by living according to them! From today onwards, give me the strength to talk with You through Your Words and receive Your abundant blessings in my life. Fill me with Your power and lead me in the path I should go.
In the most precious name of our Lord Jesus. I pray.
Amen.
