SURE SHIELD

It does taste like a delicious fruit and sound very nice like a melodious music to hear a promise from the mouth of God. However, when trials and troubles assail us, it poses a threat for us to trust in God’s promises for us. God’s promise to Abraham was this. "Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward." Genesis 15:1 Abraham fell prostrate at the feet of the Lord cried and responded in a similar vein. “Lord! God, it is nice to hear Your promises concerning me. What will You give me, seeing I go childless? Will Eliezer of Damascus who is in my house be my heir?” He was heart-broken to an extreme extent that he uttered such statements.
It was then the word of the Lord came to Abraham saying, “My son! You will have a son of your own body.” We have a loving Lord who desires that we enjoy our life on this earth. He will not leave us as orphans without blessing us. The Lord took Abraham outside and made him look at the sky. There were stars sparkling in the sky. God pointed to the stars and told Abraham, “Can you count those stars? Try if you can. Your descendants shall be like that.” God promised to bless Abraham and make him a great nation. It is the heart of God to bless us with innumerable blessings. Just as promised, God blessed Abraham with Isaac. At the age of hundred when Abraham should be holding a grandson, he was holding his son. Everyone rejoiced over this. For nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37). He calls those things which are not there as if they did (Romans 4:17). Perhaps the question, “Is it possible for this to happen?” may nag your mind. Remember that God will surely fulfill His promise to you. If you or someone dear to you is not blessed with the gift of a child, ask Him and He will certainly grant this gift. A certain sister from Calcutta testified as follows:
“My daughter was enrolled as a young partner. She had a miscarriage and was worried as a result. During the inauguration of the Jesus Calls Prayer Tower at Kolkatta, Sis. Evangeline Paul prayed for all those who experienced miscarriage pleading with God to remove all the problems in womb such as cysts and fibroids. She also requested God to place a child in every woman who was barren. At that time I prayed for God to hear our prayers. God has blessed me with a beautiful grandson. Prayer:
Loving heavenly Father,
You alone are my shield. Protect me from all harm and keep me under Your mighty wings. Help me to trust in Your promise to me and abide with me always.
