SIMPLE STATEMENT
- Sis. Evangeline Paul Dhinakaran
"If you ask anything in My name, I will do it” John 14:14.
Isn’t this a simple statement?
All we ought to do is, call out the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ whenever a need arises.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe Proverbs 18:10.
Jesus says, “My child! If you have any need just call out My name.” For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." Romans 8:15. You can call out the name of God and say, “Lord Jesus! Please bless me with a job” or “Lord Jesus! Please grant me a child” or “Lord Jesus! Please heal me of these sicknesses.” Similarly, you can ask anything from our heavenly Father.
If my beloved daughter Sweety wants anything, she would not hesitate to ask of me. She would call out, “Ma! Ma!” nearly a hundred times from the moment she gets up from bed until she leaves for school. She would command, “Mom! Come here. You better do this work for me.” She would seek my assistance in brushing her teeth, while reading the Bible, in wearing the uniform, while learning her lessons and so on. She is very affectionate to me and since I also love her unconditionally, I carry out all her commands. In the same way, we also can call out the name of our Lord Jesus saying, “Jesus! I want Your help for this day.” “Lord Jesus! I am not happy at all this day. Give me the joy of the Holy Spirit.” “Lord! I have lost my dear ones. I am in need of Your love. Jesus will You please love me? Jesus! Will You please grant this petition of mine?” We, as His children are privileged to call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ at any time.
God dislikes seeing us sit in a corner with tears trickling down. On the contrary, He wants to grant us richly every good thing that we may enjoy life on this earth. Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy 1 Timothy 6:17. Above all He gives us the joy of the Holy Spirit that we may overflow with indescribable joy that descends from above.
Prayer
Loving heavenly Father,
Quite often I have sought the help of my fellow-beings instead of conforming with Your simple statement, “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it”. Give me grace to acknowledge Your name whenever a need arises for my dear ones or for me. You promised David that You will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation." Bestow upon me the sure mercies of David. Please help me to look unto You for all the goodness that I need.
In the matchless name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen
