DAYBREAK DISPELLS DARKNESS

- Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

The Dhinakarans

Once there lived a school teacher in a certain remote village. He loved God with all his heart. With a small sum received as salary, he did his best helping poor children of his village. Besides that, he warmly welcomed the servants of God who passed by his village and gave them financial support. Although his generosity and honesty watered jealousy amongst people who spoke ill of him he turned a deaf ear to them. By the immense grace of God, his son got well placed with handsome emoluments just before his retirement from the teaching profession. God not only granted his son the gifts and power of the Holy Spirit but also used him mightily for His glory. God also blessed his son with a bungalow, car and other comforts. Millions were healed, comforted and blessed by the ministry of his son. So, when this poor teacher retired from his service, he had the privilege of living a comfortable and peaceful life with his dear son.

In accordance with the promise verse, “then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday”, the light of God shone brightly in the life of this poor village school teacher. While other retired teachers were struggling to survive, this particular teacher who loved the Lord lacked nothing that others envied him greatly. The Lord, our God is mindful and full of compassion towards those who are lowly and humble. He wants us to be like-minded. Blessed is the man who considers the poor and the humble! (Psalm 41:1). Therefore, let us not be satisfied with the selfish life that focuses only on “Me and Mine”. Let us take care and regard our friends and relatives who are in need and distress. When we lovingly help and take care of them, surely God will be our light and rescue us by dispelling darkness from our lives (Micah 7:7, 8).

Dearly beloved, in our spiritual life, it is absolutely necessary to abide in God and also to help the poor and needy by dispelling the darkness in their lives. We are the children of light and not of darkness (1 Thessalonians 5:5, 6).

Prayer

Loving Lord,

Help me to assist those in need to the best of my ability. Give me the strength to satisfy the afflicted souls in this world. From today onwards, bless me and use me as Your light to dispel the darkness in the lives of others. In the blessed name of our Lord Jesus, I pray.

Amen.
