Dear Friend, the loving Lord Jesus Christ will fulfill your heart’s desires when you walk in His ways and live a life that pleases Him.
In the Bible we see that King Solomon walked in the ways of the Lord and He was pleased with him. When King Solomon offered sacrifices to God, He was pleased with him. That night the Lord appeared to him and said, “Ask! What shall I give you?" (1 Kings 3:5).
Solomon replied, "Give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?" (1 Kings 3:9).
The Lord was pleased with the reply of Solomon that He not only blessed him with wisdom and understanding but also with exceeding riches, wealth and glory. “I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days” (1 Kings 3:13).
A heart of understanding will enable you to do good and shun evil. Many times we do what we don’t like or should not do. This is what the Apostle Paul says, “For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do” (Romans 7:15). This is the work of the enemy.
In the beginning of every New Year, we plan to be good and do good. But we end up doing what we should not do. When the enemy tempts us with evil, we get drawn to him and do things pleasing him.
Though our hearts desire to do good, we end up doing what we should not do. The plans of the enemy lead to destruction. The Bible says, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).
Dear Friend, walk in the ways of the Lord and live a life that pleases Him. When you ask the Lord to bless you with an understanding heart like King Solomon had asked, the Lord will be exceedingly pleased. He will also bless you with goodness that you have not asked. The Bible says, “Who (the Lord) is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think" (Ephesians 3:20). So Rejoice! The Lord will bless you exceedingly more than you can ask or imagine or think with His goodness when you ask Him.
Loving Lord Jesus,
Draw me closer to You and help me to walk in Your ways. Lord, fill me with Your wisdom and give me a heart of understanding. Give me grace to discern between good and evil and shun evil. I thank You for the promise that You will bless me exceedingly more than I can ask, think or imagine. Lord, fill me with Your goodness according to Your promise and let Your peace and joy fill my life. I give You all glory, honour and praise,
