Peter Rescued

Since more and more people listened, believed and followed Jesus' followers, the evil king Herod wanted to arrest and kill them.

Many Christians were forced to run away. But then, Peter, the Apostle of Jesus could not escape from Herod's hands. Peter was put into the prison and handed over to be guarded by four squads of soldiers. Herod had decided to put Peter on trial after the Passover.  But God's plans and thoughts for Peter were great and different.

Many people were earnestly praying for Peter's deliverance.  He was not afraid as he knew that the Lord God Almighty is with him.  The night before his trial, he was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, with guards at the entrance.

Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared to him, lightening up the prison cell and waking him up saying - "Quick, get up! Put on your clothes and sandals and follow me!" And the chains fell off Peter's wrist.

Peter did as he was told.  He thought it to be a dream.  They passed through each of the prison gates without any of the soldiers knowledge! When they reached the iron gates leading to the city, they all opened by themselves! As peter entered the street, the angel left him.

At that time, Peter understood that God's hand was at work and he straight away went off where the Christians were meeting that night.  When he knocked the door, a servant girl answered.  As she heard Peter's voice, she was very happy and she ran to tell others, that it was Peter who was at the door, even forgetting to open the door.  Hearing this, others were amazed and thought that it will be surely Peter's angel and not Peter himself.

During the entire time, Peter kept on knocking the door then, they finally opened it. Peter asked them to calm down and then he narrated to them the way he was delivered from the prison cell.
