ASCENSION OF JESUS!

After the resurrection of Jesus, He appeared to His disciples for 40 days in different places. He gave them the assurance that He has taken victory over death and was still living.

Then, on one occasion, while He was dining with them, he gave them this command, "Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift of My Father which He promised and you have heard Me speak about before."

Actually, here Jesus was referring to His Holy Spirit, that is, they will have to wait in Jerusalem till they receive His power when His Spirit comes upon them, once after He goes off to heaven. He even told them that once they receive His Spirit, they will become His witnesses in all the ends of the earth.

Jesus expects the same thing from each one of us too; that is, we should receive His Spirit and spread His Gospel to the ends of the earth by our words and deeds.

After speaking these words, Jesus led His disciples out of the city as far as Bethany, where He raised His hands and blessed them. As He was blessing them, He departed from them before their eyes with a cloud hiding Him from their sight; thus He was taken up into heaven. As they were intently looking upwards to see Him going, two men dressed in white appeared before them and said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand here looking into the sky? The same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you saw Him go into heaven".

So, this is the assurance that each one of us have today, that the same Jesus will come back and include us in His fold.
