The Good Neighbour

Once a leader of the Jews came to Jesus and asked him a Question “How can a person attain eternal life?"  Jesus replied from the Word of God and said, "Love your God and your neighbor with all your heart." Then the leader asked Jesus again and said “Who is our Neighbor?” Then Jesus narrated him the following story:

A person was traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho. Some robbers robbed his goods and clothes, and beat him up. They hurt him badly and left him on the sides of the road. He was bleeding and was about to die.

After some time a Jewish leader came that way and saw the person. Instead of being kind to him he Just left him. Next a religious leader also came along instead of lending a helping hand, he just passed by him.

Then a Samaritan came along that way. Now, these Jews always hated Samaritans. This Samaritan could have left this wounded Jew who was beaten up the robber’s. But when he saw him, he was moved with compassion and cleaned his wounds, tied clothes around the wounds to stop the bleeding. Then he put him over his donkey, took him to a near by village and put him in a house. He gave some money to the owner of the house and told him to give all the necessary things to the wounded person. Thus the person was saved from death.

Then Jesus stopped the story and asked the Jewish Leader “Which of these three persons was a real neighbor to the hurt person?” Then the Jewish Leader answered “the Samaritan”.

Yes dear children we need to help those who are in need .The love of God must be shown by being kind to people who are in need.
