A Story for kids

JESUS IS BORN

Then Mary married a man named Joseph who was a carpenter.

After a few months, Herod who was king at that time gave an order that all people should register their names at the capital city. So Joseph took Mary and went to the city called Bethlehem.

At Bethlehem, they had to stay at a cattle-shed because all the hotels were fully booked. There a baby was born to Mary. They named the baby as 'Jesus' as they were already instructed by the angel of God.

Three men from a far off country who were very wise, came searching for the child who was born. They were very learned men and could foretell what would happen in the coming days. So, they saw that a King would be born who would rule the whole of this earth and so, they came to worship Him. A bright star showed them the way and they reached the place where Jesus was born. They gave very expensive gifts because they knew that Jesus was the King of the whole world. Then they returned.

In the open fields, the shepherds were resting after their day's work. At that time, angels came down from heaven. They came to the shepherds and  said, "Hurry! Go to Bethlehem. A new baby is born who is the Son of God. Go and see!" Then the angels returned back to heaven.

All the shepherds ran to the place and saw Jesus laid in a manger. They all praised God together. They returned to their sheep and told everyone whom they saw that they saw the Saviour who would save the world.

Now, are you ready to answer the questions from the story? Let's see.

1. Where was the baby - Jesus born?

2. What did the angels say to the shepherds?

3. What did the shepherds do when they returned to their sheep?
