MARY - THE CHOSEN

The People of Israel were waiting very eagerly for a long time for 'Messiah - The Saviour' to come. They waited because the Lord had promised through the prophets of the Old Testament that He would send a Messiah to the Israelites who will take away the people's sin and give them salvation.

As the people were waiting for many years, the Lord was also looking at them waiting so eagerly for the Messiah. And, when the time came for the Messiah to come, the Lord sent his angel named Gabriel. He appeared before a young lady named Mary. She was a very God-fearing girl. But when the Angel came, she was frightened to see him. Gabriel said "Don't be afraid, Mary! God has greatly blessed you. You are going to have a Baby and his name will be Jesus. He will be the Messiah and He shall save all his people from their sins. He is the son of God."

But she did not know how this would happen and was a bit confused. The Angel told her that God would work a special miracle.

Mary was excited and happy to listen to this wonderful news. She would be a Mother of the Saviour of the whole world.
