Part-24   Practical Wisdom

NASH : Hello, Joan! You seem to be in high spirits!
JOAN : Yes, because my school re-opens tommorrow.
NIMI : The thrill of going to the new class, is it?

JOAN : New dress, new shoes, new books, new pen, new ribbon... everything new!
NASH : Is that so? That's why you are so excited.
NIMI : If only you begin studying with this enthusiasm, you will be the top ranker in your class!

JOAN : Only that is impossible

NIMI : Why?

JOAN : This thrill lasts only till you write the first three pages in the note book.

NASH : What happens then?

JOAN : Laziness creeps inside me and I have no desire to study.

NIMI : The more enthusiastically we study our lessons, the more we will distinguish ourselves in life.

NASH : Many years ago, a totally uncivilized tribal man happened to come to a city!

JOAN : Thee tribal man could have known nothing of the urban lifestyle.

NIMI : Yes! He walked into a shopping complex.

NASH : HE marvelled at every article in the shops.

JOAN : He could not have known how to use those articles!

NASH : Quite so. In every shop he began asking how to handle each article displayed there.

NASH : A colourful umbrella was hanging above.

NIMI : And the salesman told that if he were to hold it above his head, it would keep off the rain.

NASH : The tribal man bought it enthusiastically. He showed it all over his village and rejoiced.

NIMI : One day there was a sudden downpour of rain in that village.

NASH : The tribal man held his umbrella over his head and walked fast. Yet, he got fully drenched in the rain.

NASH : Because he didn't know how to unfold the umbrella and open it wide. Sometimes we suffer because we don't know how to use the things in our possession.

NIMI : If only we learn our lessons every day as advised by the teachers, with the same enthusiasm we have at the beginning of the academic year, we are sure to excel in our studies.

JOAN : Quite true. I shall learn to use my text books with this same initial enthusiasm.
