NANCY: But we don't even have any national holiday for us.
NASH: There'll be holiday this month. Will you come to our house then? We shall pray specially for our country on that day.
|
NIMI:
There was a Chinese boy in Philippines. He had a great concern for his country.
NASH: China was facing a great drought then. People were dying for want of food.
|
NASH:
This little boy wanted to help his country somehow.
At that time Philippines announced that it was going to open an office to help China and that those who wished to help China could send anything they wanted through that office.
|
NASH:
He was doing some odd jobs during his leisure
time and saving the money to buy a cycle for himself. But instead of buying a cycle, he bought a sack full of loves of bread and went to that office.
|
NASH:
This gesture touched the officers very much.
They Packed the bread in small cartons and labeled as "Sacrificed Bread",
and they were sold.
NIMI: Coming to know of this small boy's sacrifice, people bought those bread cheerfully. With the money realized in the first sale, more loaves of bread were bought and sold. On hearing this about this sacrifice, an American missionary sent a cycle to him.
|
NIMI: A huge amount was raised that way. The officers made arrangements to send that money to China.
NANCY'S: The boy must have made a name at a very young age.
|
NIMI:
Shouldn't we have a similar concern for our country? What is our contribution to it?
|
NANCY'S: Oh! We never think about it.
NIMI: That's true. Let us come together and pray for our country and those who are still suffering because of poverty. God will help us to be of some use to our beloved country.
