The Everlasting CovenantSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: The Lord will never forsake you because you are united to Him through the Everlasting Covenant. Beloved! The Lord Jesus Christ loves you! It is because of His love that He gave His life, shedding His blood for you! That is why the Bible says, “For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones” (Ephesians 5:30). The Lord promises, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5).
Once, I visited a person who insisted me that I stay back to meet his brother and sister-in-law. When I met his brother who was an old person, he said, “Brother, I was very anxious to meet you. I am 75 years old and I am a diabetic because of which I have lost my eye sight. God has given me three children who are all in good status in life. I am greatly indebted to my wife as she takes care of me and makes sure that I do not feel lonely.” I met his wife. She too was old. She took pride in caring for her husband and her face beamed with joy as she spoke about of how she loved caring for him. I was just amazed at the joy that beamed on her face. Indeed, the marriage covenant is the understanding between a husband and wife for each other towards leading a happy married life.
Beloved! In the Bible, we see that on the night when Jesus Christ was to be betrayed, He gave thanks and broke bread saying, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me" In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me" (1 Corinthians 11:23-25).
This is the Covenant that the Lord has made with you and me and it is an Everlasting Covenant! Sometimes you may go through circumstances in life that may seem that the Lord has forsaken you. But the Lord will never leave you nor forsake you because you are united to Him through His Everlasting Covenant. He will surely deliver you from your hard times and you shall glorify His name.
Prayer:
Loving Lord Jesus,
I thank You for Your awesome love for me! I thank and praise You for the Everlasting Covenant You have made with me. I thank You for the promise that You would never leave me nor forsake me. Lord, be with me and guide me in my life. Let Your presence surround me always. I give You all glory, honour and praise.
Amen.
