Be Humble To Be Exalted

Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

Gist: God will surely exalt the humble.

Beloved! Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). He humbled Himself by coming down to earth as man and suffered for our sins on the cross.

“…Who (Jesus Christ), being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross” (Philippians 2:6-8).

Because Jesus Christ humbled Himself and was obedient to the will of God, He (God) exalted his name to be above every name and that everything in heaven and earth should bow down at his name and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:9-11).

“…He (God) gives grace to the humble” (Proverbs 3:34).

"God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble" (James 4:6).

My husband was employed in a bank where the granddaughter of a national leader was also employed. My husband who was interested in knowing more about the national leader asked her, “Could you tell me something interesting in your grandfather’s life that you remember?” She said, “My grandfather, as you know, was a leader of national stature. One day he came home for dinner and on seeing the silverware set for dinner on the table, tears rolled down his cheeks. We asked him why he was weeping. He said that he remembered how he and grandmother were poor and they could not even afford to buy a plantain leaf to use as plates for food. So, my grandmother would clean the floor and serve him food on it. Days rolled by. God started blessing them. When he saw us well off in life, tears rolled down his face and he thanked the Lord for His goodness in our lives. My grandfather never forgot his humble past. He was a man of great humility.”

Let us have the mind of Christ and be obedient to God, humbling ourselves before Him. Then He will give us grace and will surely exalt us in our lives.

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

I humble myself before You. Fill me with Your grace. Help me to be a doer of Your Word and do things that please You. Help me to live a life that glorifies You. Father, I recount every good thing You have done in my life and I praise and thank You for them all. Let Your blessings flow abundantly into my life. In Jesus’ name I pray.

Amen.
