Love of Christ

Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

Gist: When we love one another with the love of Christ, problems will be far from us.

Beloved! Love is the answer to this evil world. “God is love” (1 John 4:8, 16). He came into this world in the form of Jesus Christ and manifested His love by giving His life on the cross. When Jesus Christ was in this world, He loved everybody and did miracles for them. That was why He was always thronged by multitudes wherever He went.

He loved His disciples though each one of them was of different character. In Matthew 26: 15, 47-50, we read that Judas Iscariot, one of the disciples of Jesus Christ betrayed Him for thirty pieces of silver. Jesus knew this well before but did not harbour any bitterness against him. He loved him and even called him as friend. Later, Judas was remorseful and lamented saying that he had sinned by betraying innocent blood. He was tormented by the guilt of betraying Jesus and hanged himself (Matthew 27:3-5).

God expects us to love everybody with His love without bitterness.

The Bible says, “If God so loved us, we also ought to love one another (1 John 4:11).

A widow toiled hard to bring up her son who was her only child. When he grew up, she got him married to a good natured girl. The girl conceived and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. The baby was a bundle of joy to the family when suddenly the widow lost her son! She was shattered to pieces! But soon her sorrow started to fade away as she showered her affection and love on her grandchild. Her daughter-in-law loved and cared for her. One day, the parents of the girl urged her to come and live with them so she could have a better life. But their daughter said that her child and she were the source of great comfort to her mother-in-law and declined to live with them. It was the love for her mother-in-law which made her to forsake a better life that was offered by her parents.

Beloved! When we love others with the love of Christ, God will bless us with peace. Problems will be far from us and blessings will abound in our lives.

Prayer:

Loving Gracious Father,

I am overwhelmed by Your awesome love that You gave Your only Son, Jesus Christ on the cross. Use me as a channel to spread Your love to others and help me not to harbour bitterness against anybody. Let Your grace, peace, joy and blessings abound in my life. In Jesus' name I pray.

Amen.
