God shall Comfort YouSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: Are you downcast? Cheer up! The Lord will comfort and bless you. Beloved! In this wicked world you may be pushed aside or looked down upon with no one to comfort or show concern to you. But there is Someone Who cares for you. The Bible says, “…God who comforts the downcast” (2 Corinthians 7: 6). Yes, Lord Jesus Christ shall comfort you and bless you in life.
“…He (Jesus) came down to comfort all who mourn (afflicted)” (Isaiah 61:1, 2).
In the days of Jesus, there was a sinful man called Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector and was very rich. He had heard of Jesus Christ and sought to see him. When he heard that Jesus Christ was passing through Jericho through a certain way, he climbed into a sycamore tree to see Jesus because he was a short man and a large crowd had gathered to see Jesus.
When Jesus came to the place where Zacchaeus was, He looked up and said, "Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house." He was surprised, came down and happily took Jesus to his house (Luke 19:1-6). Yes, what a comfort it would have been for him who was despised in his society! God will comfort and fill you with His love through the Holy Spirit.
“The love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us”(Romans 5:5). It is this divine love that urges us to give comfort to others (2 Corinthians 5:14).
There was a devout young man of a certain denomination in a certain country. He was in a very high position and was skillful in playing accordion. Therefore, all the denominations invited him to play the musical instrument for their meetings. Days passed by. He started a business with his friends to make money but it ended in loss. Shareholders of that company came to him and threatened him to return the money. All his efforts in trying to escape from his debtors ended in vain. So, he sought a hideout in his friend’s place from the debtors. He looked unto God and cried to Him. God was merciful to him and started working a miracle in his life. God moved the heart of a young man who came in search of him and said, “Do not worry! I will help you. You transfer your company with all your debts in my name and I will manage the situation.” When the young man took over the company, soon all the debts were cleared. Then this man who was living in hiding went abroad. There, God blessed him and elevated him in life. Yes! God did not allow his enemies to prevail against him.
Beloved! Seek the Lord and pour out your heart to Him. He will comfort you and change your circumstances that distress you. He will not give you as a prey to the teeth of your enemies but will place you on the Rock.
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father,
The world may despise me but You care for me and comfort me whenever I am in distress to show that You love me. Father, remove the problems in my life. Fill me with Your Spirit. Do not let my enemies triumph over me but bless me and elevate me in life before them. In Jesus’ name I pray.
