The Lord Will Not Forsake YouSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: The Lord will never forsake you but comfort and console you in times of distress. "The Lord, He is the one who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed" (Deuteronomy 31:8).
"Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go"(Joshua 1:9). The Lord has assured us, "I will never leave you nor forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). He experienced all our travails on His body, so that He will never forsake us and never leave us in all our adverse circumstances; He bore on His body our iniquities, sins, infirmities and sicknesses. (Isaiah 53:11,12; Matthew 8:17). On the Cross of Calvary, He allowed His body to be bruised and thrashed and He died for us.
In the United States of America, in a particular city, there is a Charity Organisation. Once they required financial help. Understanding their plight, a gentleman gave them a packet and said, "This contains a very valuable article; you can auction it off and use the money." So they gave it to an official auctioneer, who was shocked to see a chopped off hand of a lady inside the parcel. The donator of the gift explained, "This is the mummified hand of a Princess of a particular country, who lived 2250 years B.C. She was a very compassionate woman. One day she was handing over alms to the poor people outside her palace. But the king's high-priest who happened to witness that scene was furious. He said, "How can a Princess touch the poor children in the streets?" He commanded that her hand should be cut off according to the religious law. They chopped off her hand, but they embalmed it and preserved it. The hand, which evokes sympathy and love, has come through 4000 years. The poor Princess lost her hand because of her merciful trait and her act of charity."
But our glorious Lord Jesus was bruised all over His body for helping the broken hearted and diseased. According to the Bible, "But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him." (1 Corinthians 6:17)
"For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones"(Ephesians 5:30). When Jacob had fled from his house, Laban said to him, "Surely you are my bone and my flesh"(Genesis 29:14).
In the same way our graceful Lord Jesus tells us, "My dear son/daughter, for you I spilled the last drop of blood from my body and gave up My life. You are Mine and belong to My bone and My flesh. Therefore I will not leave you, nor forsake you." What a great blessing it is!
My dear friend, human love may change or get reduced. We may feel dejected that all people have forsaken you. But in all kinds of circumstances, Jesus will be with you. He will wipe away your tears in times of agony and sorrow and will console and comfort you. You need not fear or be dismayed. His presence will go before you the whole of this New Year. He will be with you always and on all occasions. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
Prayer:
Loving Heavenly Father,
I praise and thank You for Your promise that You will be with me always. Father, please help me not to get dejected on seeing the worldly problems and circumstances. Please wipe away my tears and help me have Your divine joy in my heart forever. I am excited to know and proclaim that I am Yours and I belong to Your bone and flesh. Enable me to remain Your family member today and always. Let not the sins ever take me away from You. In Jesus' mighty name I pray.
Amen.
