Trust In The Lord

Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

Gist: Lord Jesus loves you and cares for you. So, cast your burden on to Him and He shall sustain you.

A very pitiable experience in this life is when those dear ones in whom we put our trust let us down. We should always remember one thing. Man is but human, God is Divine. Man can change but our Lord God is changeless in His words.

"If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself" (2 Timothy 2:13).

So the trust we place in Him will never go waste. He has said, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened" (Matthew 7:7,8).

God is no respecter of persons. Man has consideration for the high and the low and lives a life of pretence. God who knows all about us desires to help us. When He took the human form and lived as Jesus in this world, He met those who had been discarded in the world and lifted them up. He healed the man who had been diseased for 38 years and had no hopes of being cured. He made the people know his miraculous powers. He restored the woman caught in sin to lead now a new life. He wiped the tears of those who had lost their dear ones by raising them from the dead. The God who manifested His power and met the needs of His people several thousands of years ago is still alive with His powers still the same.

"For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10).

He who came to bind the wounds of the broken-hearted and declare freedom to the prisoners and liberty to the slaves is Alpha and Omega. Even as in the beginning He helped those who trusted in His power, He will help those who trust in him right to the end saying that your burden is so great that no one can remove it or doubt if God would ever care for you. Hannah was barren and was languishing for several years. But when she poured that there is none to match Him. God remembered her barrenness. All that He desires is so small.

"Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7).

God doesn't want us to carry our burdens - big or small - all by ourselves. He offers to carry them for us, promises to meet all our needs.

In a certain college, there lived two girls who were classmates and inseparable friends. Once there arose a problem in their hostel and one of them got involved in it. She had not done any wrong deliberately but was caught in ignorance. She told her friend, "I never knew things will happen this way. If I am to get out of this problem and save my reputation you must do me a small help." But her friend replied, "Do not drag me into the mess. You explain yourself and try to escape." She never imagined that her friend would let her down so badly. Only then the words, which her mother used to write to her frequently in her letters, "My dear, make Jesus your best friend and lean on Him always," came to her mind. They became alive and so real on this occasion. She who had given priority to her friend and loved Jesus in a casual way now began longing for the love of Jesus. She prayed, "Jesus, I am so helpless at this moment. Do save me in this situation. You know fully well that I didn't do this wrong wantonly. I shall be careful hereafter. Forgive me this time." The Lord heard this prayer, and granted her an easy way out of her problem. She learnt that it was vain to trust in people. Moreover, she became a servant and disciple of Jesus.

Dear friend, have we put all our trust in our parents, spouse, relatives and friends? Let us direct it towards Christ here and now.

"The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; and He knows those who trust in Him." (Nahum 1:7)

God knows those who trust Him and He is strong enough to meet their needs in many miraculous ways.

"Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for Me?" (Jeremiah 32:27).

Prayer:

Loving Heavenly Father,

Help me not to put my trust on others but to place my trust in You alone. Teach me to cast all my burdens on You. Empower me to grow in strong faith in You. I believe that You will not forsake me in any situation. Make to grow closer to You and to abide in You always. In Jesus matchless name, I pray.

Amen.
