COMFORTING LORD

Gist: This is my comfort in my affliction, for your word has given me life

Beloved! I greet you in the loving and powerful name of Jesus Christ! Our God is a God of comfort. He comforts us in our sorrows. Yes! He comforts us with His presence. He comforts us by His Word. His Word is anointed. His Word gives us life. It gives us strength. His Word brings deliverance, healing, joy, etc.

Once there was a devout man who fell very sick and the doctor after a series of examinations confirmed him that he was suffering from a dreadful cancer. He was shattered to pieces. His grief was beyond words. He was desperate and comfortless. He sent a message to his best friend who came rushing to see him. Seeing him, he told him of his dreadful sickness, and wept bitterly on his shoulder. His friend comforted him saying, “Today you are passing through the valley of Baca but only in this valley of tears, lilies blossom. God will cause good things to happen like lovely flowers. God will heal you. Don't lose hope. Have faith in the Lord.” The words of his friend gave him great consolation. His words gave him hope. His faith began to grow. Soon he was healed of his sickness and gave glory to God.

“This is my comfort in my affliction, for your word has given me life”. Your law had been my delight, I would then have perished in my affliction”(Psalm 11:50,92). Beloved! When your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, words of comfort would flow out of your mouth.

In the multitude of my anxieties within me, your comforts delight my soul (Psalm 94:19).

Many years ago, there was a church in the United States of America that did not believe in or encourage the miracle working power of Jesus Christ, and it conducted a World Conference. A great number of people had attended the conference. On the last day they showed a movie based on Revelations 21: 1, which says, I saw a New Heaven and a New Earth for the first heaven and the first earth passed away. A mother, who was in her wheel chair saw the new heaven and the new earth being created. As she was watching, the power of God came down mightily on her which made her jump from her wheel chair and she started running around in the auditorium. Everybody who saw this was awestruck by the power of God.

Beloved! Similarly God is able to change your circumstance in a split second by His power. So don't worry! He will comfort and change your circumstances. Just trust Him and praise Him for His goodness.

Prayer:

Loving Father

Whenever I feel gloomy or worried, You comfort me with your loving presence and strengthen me with Your Word. I praise you and thank You for this. You keep me as the apple of Your eye. Lord, Your love is great! I praise You for it. Give me grace to delight in you always. In Jesus’ name I pray.

Amen.
