BE HOLY

Speaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran

Gist: God will strengthen you to lead a holy life in the midst of all your trials.

God loves holiness (Malachi 2:11). He is the One, Who makes us holy (Ezekiel 20:12). So, He expects you to lead a holy life.

1 Peter 1:15,16 says, “But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, "Be holy, for I am holy.”

When we read the life of Joseph, Potiphar, an officer of the King Pharaoh, bought him as a slave to Egypt. Joseph found favour in his sight and made Joseph the overseer of his house. One day, Potiphar’s wife tempted Joseph to commit sin, he cried out, saying “How then can I do this great wickedness and sin against God” (Genesis 39:9). He came out of her trap and ran outside. In the midst of all his trials, the Lord exalted him and blessed him abundantly because he led a holy life.

Similarly, the Lord will exalt you also, when you lead a holy life in the midst of all your trials.

God tells us to lead a holy life through the following Bible references:

Romans 12:1 says that we must present our bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

“Cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” (2 Corinthians 7:1)

Hebrews 12:14 says, “Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.”

In the Bible, we read about Samson, who was a promised child by God to his parents. He grew up to be a strong man and he was blessed by the power of God. No one could stand before the might he received from God. But, lust made him to fall into the evil trap of an immoral woman. When he realized that he lost his strength given to him by God, the Philistines captured him, imprisoned him and blinded him (Judges 16:20,21). Samson failed to lead a holy life before God.

Are you leading a holy life? Please check yourself and see that you present your body as a living sacrifice to the Lord because the satan walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). The Bible warns us that in the last days perilous times will come and we have to turn away from the unholy life (2 Timothy 3:1-5).

Dear friend, the Lord expects you to lead a holy life. But, you cannot lead a holy life by your own strength. So, ask the Lord to fill you with the Holy Spirit to strengthen you in all your weakness. He will remove all ungodliness and lead you to live a holy life.

Prayer:

My heavenly Father,

Help me to live a holy life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and strengthen me. Shield me from all the temptations of the world. I surrender myself completely in Your hands. Let Your new mercies and grace fill my life everyday.

In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray.

Amen.
