SACRIFICE OF HIS GLORY!Speaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: God manifested Himself in the flesh and carried all your sufferings on the cross because He loved you. God emptied Himself and came down to earth as “Jesus”. He made Himself of no reputation, took the form of a bondservant and came in the likeness of men (Philippians 2:7,8).
God is light and His dwelling place is in the unapproachable light (1Timothy 6:16). Heaven is His throne and earth is His footstool (Isaiah 66:1). Millions of angels surround Him. They praise and worship Him without ceasing. “And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald”(Revelation 4:3).
Such a glorious God manifested Himself in the flesh and carried all our sufferings on the cross because He loved us.
Once there lived a rich business man, he committed a grave mistake and a situation arose that he was about to be arrested. Somehow he escaped and fled back to his native land. The business man and his wife were very happy as they thought that they had evaded imprisonment. But, all of a sudden, the Interpol stepped into their premises. According to the instructions, he was arrested in his own country by the local police and was handed over to the police in the country from where they escaped. His heart was broken. He looked at his wife and said to her, “Please get me out of the prison. My infirmity is killing me. If I am not released from the prison, I will surely die soon.” But his wife could do nothing. The rich man, who lived a prosperous and luxurious life, could not endure the painful life in the prison and he died after a short while. His end was very pathetic.
The business man committed a mistake and suffered for it. But, Jesus did not commit any sin, suffered on the cross and sacrificed His glory for us. What a loving God we have!
Jesus had no form or comeliness nor beauty (Isaiah 53:2). His visage was marred more than any man (Isaiah 52:14). He was oppressed and afflicted. A crown of thorns was pressed on His head. He was despised and rejected by men. He carried our sorrows and agonies upon Himself. He was wounded for our transgressions and He was bruised for our iniquities. At last He cried out, “My Lord, My Lord, why have you forsaken me?” and gave up His spirit. He sacrificed His glory for us.
Dear friend, in all His sufferings, He was patient and never opened His mouth because He loved you. When you cry unto Him, surely He will fill you with His grace and help you to be relieved from all your sorrows. So, be of good cheer!
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your love that You have shown towards me. I praise You for You are the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Help me to meditate upon Your sufferings on the cross. Give me the grace to depend on You for all my needs. Bless this day and may I always be relaxed knowing that You are in control of my life.
In Jesus’ matchless name, I pray.
Amen.
