MERCYSpeaker: Dr. Paul Dhinakaran Gist: God’s mercy follows you. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalms 23:6
Why this mercy? To provide strength in your weakness.
Paul complained to God. “Physically I am very weak my Master! A thorn is oppressing me. Please take it away. It weakens me very badly. I am unable to bear this. For three times I have prayed.” Jesus Christ spoke to him. What did He say? “Paul! I will not remove this thorn but I will fill you with My grace. I’ll fix mercy to follow you. In your weakness My strength shall be perfected. The thorn cannot harm you but the world will see My strength operating through you. (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Every servant of God displays such miracles in this world. Thorns, criticisms, acts of the devil, physical weakness, cares, concerns, the problems of the members of the congregation and so on, falls on the head of a servant of God so that they can understand the agony of the people.
Pray and minister with compassion. The Lord has uttered this statement. “If a man desires to follow him, he should take up his cross and follow Him daily.” God pities His servants and grants them His mercy. In their weakness, the strength of God is perfected. Consequently there is no weakness for a servant of God. A servant and a child of God is more than a conqueror.
On the one side, the weaknesses come. While on the other, the mercy of God surrounds. The people of the world look intently at a child of God. “An ordinary person would have been doomed but this child of God has not only overcome this weakness but has come out as more than a conqueror. He has grown from strength to strength. Truly this one is a child of God” they exclaim. As soon as they acknowledge the power of God within that servant of God, people rush for a personal word from God. Billy Graham one of the well-known evangelist of this century told the above statements.
Lord’s mercy alone helps you in your weakness. Many may criticize you. “What has this Jesus Christ done for you? You are following Him very faithfully.” Their words put down your spirit and bring weakness into you. However, the Lord sends His mercy at that time and lifts you up. Then you would say, “My Lord Jesus Christ is Almighty and strong. He is sufficient for me.” God will surely make you more than a conqueror.
God commands this mercy to follow His children and servants today. God’s strength will be perfected in your weakness. No physical weaknesses can overpower you. You will be more than a conqueror. Today, be of good cheer because God’s mercy will follow you from now on.
Prayer:
Loving Lord,
I praise and thank You for Your mercies which are new every morning. It is only Your mercy that sustains me in this world that is full of darkness and makes me more than a conqueror. Help me declare like the Psalmist, ‘Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.’ May Your mercy flow ceaselessly and make me glad always.
