MY BEST FRIENDSpeaker: Sis. Stella Dhinakaran Gist: Spend time with God who is the Best Friend. We read about a young man who followed the ways of the Lord diligently. Even when he was just seventeen years old, he had visions and dreams. The Lord loved him very much. My dear Friend! Do you have dreams and visions when you pray today? Analyze your life. Is Jesus Christ walking with you?
However, from his seventeenth year until the age of thirty, for thirteen years he suffered untold misery. His father, Jacob was a God fearing man. The Almighty God walked with this young man. Even while battling with many hardships, he did not cry. Is your cry like this? “I have no friends at all. Nobody loves me. I am nobody for everybody.” This young man did not cry while faced with troubles but trusting in God looked up to Him always.
The Almighty God was with him like a friend (Genesis 39:2, 21, 23). Since the Lord who created the heaven and earth was with Joseph, he was successful in all his endeavours. You may have to go through many trials while in the process of becoming a child of God. Always remember, God never forsakes you. On the one side, problems will appear like roaring lions while on the other side the grace and mercy of the Almighty God will fill and protect you (2 Timothy 3:12).
My dear Friend, the Lord is here to give you abundant life (John 10:10). If the abundant life giving God abides with you, then you can crush satan under your feet. Nothing can by any means kill you, no man can destroy you, no witchcraft powers can operate but the presence of God will fill your life. The Holy Spirit will surround you always.
What would you do when you place your trust in Him?
You will be reading the word of God. (Psalms 1:2,3) The word is none other than God Himself. When you read the word of God, you will be surrounded by the presence of God.
After accepting Jesus Christ as my Saviour, I started reading the Bible whenever I found time. I looked up to Him because I trusted Him. Seek Him with all your heart then you will feel the presence of God all the time. Problems will come but that’s short lived (1 Peter 1:6,7; 5:10). God will grant you honour, praise and glory. He will perfect, establish, strengthen and settle you.
I got married to Bro. Dhinakaran very happily. “He is a godly man. I will enjoy the presence of God always.” These were the thoughts that filled my mind. Do you know what happened? Within a short span of time, I had to go through many problems one after another. The first problem being ‘childlessness’. I had no child for three years. In the fourth year, I was blessed with a boy baby (now Dr. Paul Dhinakaran) and God also blessed me with a girl child. Our Lord is a loving and merciful Father who is waiting to bless you also. Through these problems, the Lord perfected, established and strengthened me.
My dear Friend, cling on to the Lord Jesus Christ and read the word of God daily. Instead of spending time with your worldly friends, spend time with God who is the Best Friend. He will help you, grant you a bright future and you can gladly declare that ‘Jesus Christ’ is your Best Friend.

Loving Lord,
I invite You into my heart. Please come because I know that You alone are the Best Friend for me. Give me the grace to read Your word daily and obey Your voice. May those who are with me know that You are with me always.
