Today you are visiting this website to shake hands with the Lord. I shook hands with the Almighty God while in my twentieth year. On the 11th of February in the year 1955, rushing towards the rails, I kept awaiting the express train’s arrival. Why? Being a very desperate young man then, I wanted to throw myself before it and be crushed. Having failed my bachelor’s degree in two attempts, with no employment, besides poverty pressing on all sides I decided to commit suicide by jumping before an express train.
An uncle of mine who worked for the Police Department intervened. “Son! Do you know that there is a Father in heaven? He loves you. He lived on this earth two thousand years ago. People called Him Jesus, which means a Saviour. He can save anybody from any problem. Do you know that?” I shot back. “Is there someone like that? I don’t know.” He looked at me filled with compassion. “Jesus can help you. Ask Him to reveal your heart today. You need not jump before a train. You can live a blessed life in this world. My son! Go back. Shake hands with Jesus Christ.”
I returned and knelt down in a small space that sheltered us, which we called our home. I cried. “O Lord! Nobody wants me. I am an unemployed fellow who could not even pass the degree exam. What shall I do? Please help me.” For four hours I cried. The mighty power of God descended on me and a divine peace surrounded me. I felt God’s loving hands washing my sins away. On that day I shook hands with God. I became a new creation. My problems did not end that night but a great peace filled my heart.
The Bible says that when you shake hands with God and say, “Lord I am Your child” He embraces you (John 1:12;Galatians 4:6;Romans 8:15). The spirit of adoption comes even without your volition and you know that you can look up to a Father who is in heaven.
Cheer up! You may have one million problems this day but always remember that you have a very rich Father in heaven who is willing to help and shake hands with you. God loves you. Just say, “Father! I am coming back to You. No more of sin, addiction or murder. Please forgive me.” God will embrace and shake hands with you. All that He possesses will become yours today.
He promised, “Ask and it shall be given. Everyone who asks receives.” My dear Friend, don’t kill yourself nor say my prayers are unanswered. God has given this promise. “Ask and it shall be given. Everyone who asks receives.” Therefore, you ask Him today. You shall not leave this website without getting answers to all your prayers.
Jesus Christ enquired His disciples whether they lacked anything. They responded “No” (Luke 22:35). When Jesus Christ shook hands with His disciples before leaving this earth he told them, “If at anytime you require anything, just ask in My name” (John 14:14). Your need is greater for you and therefore I will provide it when you ask it in My name. “You have not asked anything in My name. Just test it now. You shall receive whatever you want and your joy shall be full” (John 16:24)
Why should you use His name?
I will narrate an incident that happened. In a certain city, a prominent person - an officer in the Education Department was called to open a newly built school. When he entered the school, he found the school bearing the name of his only son who had died at the age of sixteen. This officer’s heart was shattered. On seeing his son’s name, his eyes moistened with tears. However, he controlled his emotions and patrolled the whole place. Finally when he came to the starting point where the picture of his son was placed he burst into tears. He then turned towards the people gathered. “Is there anything that I can do for you?” They presented a long list of demands. He took the sheet from them and wrote ‘sanctioned’. Whatever asked, was granted them that day.
My dear Friend, two thousand years ago, God came down in the form of man bearing the name Jesus Christ. He was God in flesh who suffered on the cross of Calvary for you and me. Just shake hands with God today and He will meet all your needs.
Prayer:
Almighty God,
I believe that You who did not spare Your only begotten Son would not bear to see me lacking in any good thing. I place all my needs at Your feet. Grant me according to Your riches in glory. Remember me today for good that I may be satisfied early with Your goodness in abundance. Help me to look up to the cross of Calvary.
I claim all the blessings that You have in store for me this day.
In the matchless and mighty name of Your son Jesus Christ my Lord I pray.
