A LIVING LORD

Gist: The living Lord satisfies you abundantly with the fullness of His house.

There is an interesting and amazing thing about the house of the living God. “They are abundantly satisfied with the fullness of Your house” (Psalms 36:8)

When you go to your Father’s house, He has fullness of all good things with which He satisfies you abundantly.

The following words, describes the lament of the prodigal son.

"But when he came to himself, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 'I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you”’ (Luke 15:17-18)

The prodigal son left his father’s home and wasted all his money in worldly pleasures until he had nothing to eat. Finally he remembers his father’s home and cries saying, “In my father’s house there is bread enough and to spare even for the servant but here am I his son perishing in hunger. Let me go back to my father’s house.” Truly, going to the father’s house is a wonderful experience.

Sometime ago, I was at Manila in Philippines. We reached a particular place called the city of the dead. It’s a spectacular sight that is quite unbelievable because both sides of that city had perfectly laid roads with brightly burning lights. The houses were splendid and some of them were real mansions. Nobody walked on the streets and I was taken there. I asked them, “What is all this? Sounds very mysterious.” They told me, “When a rich Chinese man dies, he is buried in a house that is built for his spirit to live and it’s a replica of the house in which he had lived while alive. Whenever the members of his family face a problem, immediately they are reminded of their father’s home and rush there seeking help.” The father is no more but his mortal remains are buried in a house, which is exactly the same as the one in which he lived before.

I saw a young girl standing before a house and crying profusely. I also saw the picture of her father and mother embedded on the wall. Perhaps she was thinking, “Had my parents lived, this would not have happened.” She was crying for help. At that moment I remembered our God, a living Father.

Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy (1 Timothy 6:17).

Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel, 2 Timothy 2:8

The word “living God” appears 29 times in the Bible and that is to say the Lord is reminding every fortnight that He is a ‘Living God.” Just say, “My Lord is a living God who is ready to help me.”

“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble” (Psalms 46:1).

Prayer:

Loving Lord,

I thank You because there is fullness of all good things in Your house. Help me enter your presence and receive all the goodness that You have stored up for me. May my delight always be in knowing You and in obeying Your commandments because You are a living God. Like Elijah help me to place my trust not on the ravens or the river but on You the living Lord. My trust is in You alone. Give me the grace not to depend on uncertain riches but only on You for all my needs. Bless this day and may I always be relaxed knowing that You are in control of my life. In Jesus name I pray.

Amen.
