ABBA FATHERSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: When you become a member of God's family, He will take care of you. The Bible says, "For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, 'Abba, Father.' " (Romans 8:15) God grants you the heart of a child and you begin to address Him as your Father. How does this miracle happen overnight?
Several years ago, I visited Nagaland. I found a certain man from South India working there. He had a Naga wife and also had children through her. I asked him, "Brother! How did you come to this place?" He responded thus: "I just came her on a visit to this land. But I received God's call to work among these people. I also wished to marry a Naga woman. I told this to the village chief. The village chief gathered the congregation one day. He then told the people about my decision to stay in that land and also marry a woman from their community. Moreover he also told of his decision to adopt me as his son to the people gathered there. I became a member of his family"
How did the village chief do that? He brought a pig and beheaded it. Then he said, "Through the blood of this pig, I am adopting this young man into my family."
Our loving Lord Jesus Christ has also paid the price for you and me through the sufferings on the cross of Calvary. "For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's" (1 Corinthians 6:20).
When you come to the cross of Calvary and cry out to God, surely He will adopt you as His child. You will never feel lonely thereafter. God gives you the authority to become His own son and daughter. When you become a member of God's family He will take care of you.
Prayer:
Almighty God,
I thank You for granting me the authority to be Your child and call You "Abba Father" through the sufferings of Your only begotten Son Jesus Christ our Lord. Help me to remember always that I am a member of Your family and that You always care for me. I am never alone in any situation. I praise and thank You for this wonderful privilege.
In Jesus' name I pray.
Amen. |
