Protector and Provider

Speaker: Sis. Evangeline Paul Dhinakaran

Gist: Just as how God provided for the family of Abraham God will also provide for you.

How does God protect and provide for our family?

And Abraham called the name of the place, the-Lord-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, "In the Mount of The Lord it shall be provided." Genesis 22:14

My dear Friend, likewise, the God who granted Abraham many blessing is going to bless you and your family with divine blessings that you need. Perhaps you may be saying, “I have no child, or I have no sufficient funds to run the family, or I do not have a job.”

Today, my dear Friend, just as how God provided for the family of Abraham God will also provide for you.

The only thing that you have to do is, invite him into your family. The Bible says, "Behold, I (Jesus Christ) stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him, and he with Me (Revelation 3:20). It is our duty to open the door of our heart and welcome God.

Two of the disciples of Jesus Christ welcomed him on their way to a village called Emmaus. They walked along with Jesus and kept conversing all the while with God not knowing who He was. The day came to a close and at dusk they urged God and invited Him to stay with them.

My dear Friend, in the same way we have to ask the Lord to come and stay in our house. God condescended to their request and not only stayed with them but also ate with them. He took the bread, after breaking and blessing, gave it to them. Just check, are you eating food without thanking God? Even Jesus Christ the beloved Son of God gave thanks to the Father and only after that He proceeded to eat it. When we pray before having our food, God will surely bless the food and grant us the necessary strength through it. When we sit at the dining table as a family and pray then no harm will come to us.

Until this day, if you do not have the habit of thanking God you may start thanking Him from today.

There lives a little girl who is allergic to having fish for food. Immediately after consuming fish she would get rashes all over her body. One day, her father returned from office and sat at the dining table. Since his daughter had not returned from school he was tempted to have some delicious fish. He asked his wife to prepare some fish. Immediately she did set a very delicious fish cuisine at the dining table but when he was about to eat it, there entered the little girl who joyfully exclaimed, “Papa! I smell some cooked fish.” Then in a tone much lower than before she pleaded, “It is a very long time since I had fish. Can I eat some today.” The father did not know what to do. On the one hand he wanted to give his daughter the desired fish that she liked very much but on the other hand trembled at the thought of the rashes that she would appear on her body and the suffering that it would inflict upon her. After much inner battle, the father took the fish gave thanks to God and then gave it to his child. She with great joy ate enough to her heart’s content. One day passed by followed by one week and finally one month passed by and the rashes did not show its ugly head again. Hallelujah. God will do the same for you. Gather at the dining table as a family and then have your food together after giving thanks to God.

Prayer

Almighty God,

I praise You for being my Protector and Provider. I thank You from the bottom of my heart for the food that You have given me this day. Bless it and also the hands that prepared it. May it be a source of strength to my physical body. I admit the fact that when You are my Shepherd I shall not be in want today. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.

In Jesus’ name I pray.

Amen
