KING AND JUDGE

Speaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran

Gist: So then each of us shall give account of himself (his actions) to God.

Who is the King about whom Jesus Christ spoke in this parable? (Matthew 18:23-28)

It is about God the King of kings.

What kind of a God is He?

He is a King who wants to settle accounts with His servants. Yes He is counting back the money that He had given to His servants. You are accountable to God for your actions. While checking the accounts, He found one man had been cheating. But the Lord is the true God; He is the living God and the everlasting King. At His wrath the earth will tremble, And the nations will not be able to endure His indignation (Jeremiah 10:10). So then each of us shall give account of himself to God (Romans 14:12). And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, (Hebrews 9:27).

who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them) in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel. (Romans 2:15-16). Job, a righteous man laments, “Does He not see my ways, And count all my steps?” ( Job 31:4). You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book? Psalms 56:8

The Almighty God is a King who is very compassionate and at the same time a righterous Judge. “And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, "keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children's children to the third and the fourth generation." ” (Exodus 34:6-7). God is a righteous and just Judge in forgiving but at the same time He is not so in clearing the guilty. “God is a just judge, And God is angry with the wicked every day” (Psalms 7:11).

Sin is sin. Iniquity is iniquity and trespass is trespass. "But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. Matt 18:25 The King instructed His servants to arrest him, sell all his possessions including his wife, children and everything that he had and put him in jail until he repaid everything.

Law is law and God will not grant pardon to the guilty. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23). "The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself(Ezekiel 18:20). He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. (Proverbs 28:13)

Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon (Isaiah 55:7 ). Ask the Lord to forgive your trespasses. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

"But if you do not do so, then take note, you have sinned against the LORD; and be sure your sin will find you out (Numbers 32:23). You are accountable to the King of kings therefore watch every step that you take and confess all your sins and get rid of them today.

Prayer

Almighty God,

I acknowledge that besides being a just Judge, You are a compassionate King. I confess all my sins and beg of You to cleanse me with the blameless blood of Your loving Son Jesus Christ. Forgive my trespasses and make me whole in every sphere of my life.In Jesus’ name I pray.

Amen
