FELLOWSHIP WITH GODSpeaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran Gist: When you have Jesus Christ in your soul, things become easier for you. On the 11th of February 1955, the same day when I contemplated on committing suicide, I ended up devoting my heart to the Lord Jesus Christ without any reservation. My uncle working then in the police department explicated the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. My life changed completely and I started reading the Bible.
The more I read the word of the Almighty God, the knowledge of how the Lord spoke with Moses, and Elijah, and walked with Enoch, and Noah thrilled me. The Bible says that Abraham was called the friend of God. (James 2:23). Moses spoke to the Almighty God just as a friend would converse with another. (Numbers 12:8, Exodus 33:11).
After reading these incidents, I asked the Lord, "Where are such experiences now? Why am I not able to converse with You in person nor hear Your voice? Lord! I want to see You." I worked very hard for a bank and quite often I would reach office at 7 a.m. and return only at 12 p.m. However, I always found time to kneel down at the feet of the Lord and cry unto Him saying, "Lord! When can I see You?"
Seven years passed by. On the 9th of October 1962 I prayed thus: "Lord! I have been praying sincerely for seven years but You have not shown Your face to me until now. Either You show me Your face or kill me. I dislike leading this cut and dried Christian life."
On the 10th of October 1962, as usual I came home around 9.30 p.m. and was very tired. A pastor and his wife had visited us that day. Together we knelt down for the family prayer. I was exhausted and just waited for my father to offer a short prayer so that I could get to the comfort of my cozy cot. The loving Lord chose that hour and His mighty presence filled that room.
All of us began to shiver in the presence of the Lord and He opened my eyes. I saw a bright light piercing through the ceiling and a person appeared in it. Oh! That was the marvellous presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible says, "His mouth is most sweet, yes, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend..." (Songs of Solomon 5:16).
I looked at His face. He said, "I am Jesus! Now that you sought Me diligently, I have come to bless you personally. "And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:13). For three hours I saw Him and He conversed with me. He told me as to how in the past seven years, on what day, where, how and at what time I had prayed.
Further He said, "I have listened to all your prayers and therefore I have come in person to bless you." When the time came for Him to leave, He stepped forward towards me and the door of my heart opened. He said, "My son! I have waited for you all these twenty seven years."
Before entering my soul, He said, "My son! This world has heard about My love but it has not seen this in any man's life. I am filling you with My love and compassion. Whenever you are filled with this love and compassion for My people whatever you ask shall be granted." He entered me and my whole life changed completely. A great love and compassion filled my soul.
These words changed my hard, stony and ungrateful heart into one of love and compassion. Whenever the Holy Spirit descends upon me it brings the love and compassion of the Lord in my heart. Even before stepping into the pulpit to preach about the word of God, I spend days together in fasting and prayer.
I just pray for one thing and that is for His Holy Spirit to descend upon me and that I should be filled with His love and compassion. When you have this love and compassion, the sicknesses of others you experience in your body and their agony as your own. At that time, you feel like embracing each one and crying for them. That is the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. "For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died" (2 Corinthians 5:14).
Look at our loving Lord Jesus Christ in the garden of Gethsemane (Luke 23:42-44). Jesus Christ prayed fervently that sweat came out of His body as big droplets of blood. I have walked with the Lord and when you have Him in your soul it makes things easier for you.
Two things came into my life. One is the love and compassion of our Lord Jesus Christ and the other is that whenever you kneel down to pray immediately I see Him face to face. Sometimes I kneel down for six to eight or even the whole day and He is there to talk with. Oh! It is truly a marvellous thing.
The Bible says, "Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him" (John 14:23). He will surely come and dwell in your home and in your soul. It will become very easy for you to pray to Him, walk and sojourn with Him. Truly it is a marvellous life.
Prayer
Almighty God,
Help me to seek You diligently with all my heart, soul and mind. Grant me the experiences of Moses, Elijah, Noah and Enoch. May I always walk, talk with You and praise Your Holy and Mighty name as long as I live. Give me the grace to foretaste such a marvellous life this day. Bless me and keep me as a source of blessing to others.
