Minister to the Saints

Speaker: Dr. D.G.S. Dhinakaran

Gist: God will never forget those who minister to the saints because He is God of justice

Remember the rulers particularly those who watch over your soul (Hebrews 13:7,17). They are none other than your pastor. The task entrusted with a pastor is to watch over his sheep. The Amplified Bible says that a Pastor is one who guarantees your salvation. They indirectly say, “Father! This person is a member in my church. Until this person comes home to see You, I guarantee this person’s salvation.” They watch over you and see that you do not pervert from the righteous path. Therefore, the Bible says remember them.

Sometimes we remember the church, it’s outreach ministries but forget to remember the person behind it and that is the pastor-the shepherd of our soul. God will never forget those who minister to the saints because He is God of justice (Hebrews 6:10).

Jesus says, “Whatever is rendered as help or given generously to your pastor is extended to me” (Matthew 10:40-42). If you accept your pastor as a prophet you get a prophet’s reward, if you accept him as a righteous man then you get a righteous man’s reward and if you just accept him as a disciple of Jesus Christ by giving him a cup of water even that is taken into account and you are rewarded. God never forgets even a small thoughtful gesture of yours. We have a marvelous God. Remember those who guarantee your salvation.

Besides having worked in a bank for many years, I continued doing God’s ministry. I had nearly seven hundred officers reporting to me. At that time, several pastors used to come home and pray for and with me.

One day while sitting in the office, I suddenly remembered a pastor- a very affectionate person in one particular village who had spent hours enthusing, encouraging, and compassionately conversing with us. I called a chief man in our office and asked him to find about this particular pastor and also instructed him to give a sum of money to that pastor.

He returned with the following information. “Sir! I stepped in at the right moment. The scene I saw has left an indelible scar. The pastor lying in coma stage was almost knocking the gate of heaven while his wife sat crying being penniless beside him. Her greatest worry at that moment being, ‘If only my husband passes away, how would I bury him?’ The pastor’s eyes began to close and exactly at that moment I sneaked in and told the pastor’s wife that you had sent me and handed over the money to her. Great joy came upon her. She took the money placed it in the hand of her husband, then jerking his body told him, ‘Bro. Dhinakaran has sent this money for you!’ The pastor clasped the money in his hand, smiled and in doing so his face shone. He tried to open his eyes but could not do so. Then he stepped inside heaven.”

The official whom I had sent also told me, “Sir! It was a very pathetic sight. I really wept. Anyway, thank God that that man had received your money at the right time. I am sure that his blessings will always be upon you. God will surely bless you for this act of yours.”

Let us remember the great sacrifice made by our Saviour Jesus Christ and believe that He is always there to help and intercede for us. Let us remember that it is more blessed to give than to receive. Remember the members in your fellowship, particularly those who are bound and also be concerned about those who take care of your soul. When you remember such people, then surely God will bless you abundantly.

Prayer

Loving Lord,

Help me to minister unto saints who are Your representatives here on this planet earth. May I always be generous in reaching out to them. Give me Your grace and mercy for this new day. I thank You because I am assured that You have crowned this day with Your goodness.

Amen
