From Ruins to Royalty

Gist: God remembered Naomi and Ruth and made their name great. From desolation Ruth became one in whose lineage a king was born.

Ruth clung onto the God of Naomi, her mother-in-law and told, “Your God shall be my God. Your people will be my people. I will live and die but above all your God shall be my God.’ Ruth never ever said, “Where is the power of your God Who had allowed your husband, my husband and brother-in-law to die” She knew that the God of Naomi is a living One and therefore did not complain.

“Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him” (Job 13:15). Ruth knew that the God of Naomi is still seated on His throne and therefore said, “Your God shall be my God.” God loves such challenges. It takes courage to say, “I have a God who remembers me” in the midst of your agony, frustrations, desolation or in a state of being cast away. Therefore the Lord looked upon Ruth.

But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him (1 Corinthians 8:3)

“The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him. (Nahum 1:7)

But I am poor and needy; Yet the LORD thinks upon me. You are my help and my deliverer; Do not delay, O my God. (Psalms 40:17)

For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from Him; But when He cried to Him, He heard. (Psalms 22:24).

God says, “I know him who clings on to Me even in the midst of calamity.” You are here not to complain but to confess that ‘God remembers you.’ God knows you by your name. Let not your heart be troubled.

So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife; and when he went in to her, the Lord gave her conception, and she bore a son (Ruth 4:13). The Bible says that Boaz was an honourable man. “There was a relative of Naomi's husband, a man of great wealth, of the family of Elimelech. His name was Boaz.” (Ruth 2:1). God blessed Ruth with a beautiful boy baby and thereby built the house of Ruth.

The elders came and blessed their home. (Ruth 4:11). It is a miracle that people came to wish a woman from a foreign land with all their heart as if they blessed their own people. Ruth claimed, “This is my land.” Then Naomi took the child and laid him on her bosom, and became a nurse to him (Ruth 4:16). Her mother-in-law raised the child for her with great love like a mother. God also built the family of Naomi and great joy filled her. She was blessed with a grandson named Obed. “Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David” (Ruth 4:22). Ruth’s great grandson became a mighty king.

Today, the star of David is the emblem of the Israeli parliament. They declare with great pride, “This is the star of David.” The house of David stills stands in the mount of Zion in Jerusalem. God remembered Naomi and Ruth and made their name great. The same living God would perform miracles for you. From desolation Ruth became one in whose lineage a king was born.

Prayer

Almighty God,

Please help me to always remember and confess that You are always mindful of me though I am weak and needy. Grant me Your divine grace to place you always first in my life and never doubt or complain about Your miracle working power. You always bless those who place their trust in you. In Your immense mercy bless me this day.

I pray in Jesus’ name.

Amen
